LSU added another major piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Thursday when four-star safety Karnell "Greedy" James flipped his commitment from Texas to the Tigers.
One of the nation's top defensive backs, James chose LSU after taking official visits this summer, giving the Tigers another significant recruiting win on the defensive side of the ball.
The Manvel, Texas, standout is regarded as one of the top safeties in the 2027 class, though LSU also believes he has the versatility to play cornerback under secondary coach Corey Raymond. His commitment continues the Tigers' recruiting momentum as they strengthen one of the nation's top-ranked classes.
James is rated the No. 5 safety in the country, according to 247 Sports. His verbal pledge gives LSU 15 commitments for the class of 2027.
