Four-star cornerback Cai Bates from Orlando, Fla., decommitted from LSU on Monday night.

Bates, a 6-2, 180-pound prospect from Orlando, Fla., committed initially to the Tigers in July over Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Colorado.

LSU now has 25 verbal commitments for the class of 2024 with the departure of Bates.

In October, the Tigers lost four-star cornerback Ondre Evans, who flipped to Georgia and landed three-star prospects PJ Woodland and Bernard Causey (Ole Miss flip).

Maybe it was a bigger check that LSU was going to cut.

After we now get a "replacement" commitment, the three star lovers will come out in droves.

Well, if he doesn’t want to be a Tiger there is no sense in him taking up a scholarship. All the best to the young man.

"if he doesn’t want to be a Tiger there is no sense in him taking up a scholarship".

Agree, but I don't have to wish him the best-especially as he will end up playing for a rival

The word used should be changed because these kids have no idea what commitment means. Wonder why?

Aside from a a couple a year, we really need to get away from high school players more than 2 states away. This seems to happen to 90% of "commits" from far away. Lousiana, Texas and Mississippi. There you go. I know we will probably get the Michigan kid, but that's so far and few between. If a California or Florida kid wants to transfer here, wonderful. But these hs ones are a different story.

DB coaches need to be replaced. Unable to coach up the secondary players, can't recruit. We can't afford keep them another year. Daniel's has carried the offense and bailed out the defense in our 7 wins.

If you can't recruit top defensive talent, you can't compete in the SEC. This ain't the BigEast. You can't scheme your way through the SEC with inferior talent.
