Unemployed mother of four, Katrina Bookman, says she is suing Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York City, after a slot machine indicated she won $43 million, but all she got was a steak dinner.
quote:

“I feel like they did me real dirty,” Katrina Bookman told the New York Daily News in a story published Wednesday.

In August, Bookman thought she had won the life-changing jackpot on the slot when a message on the monitor said, “Printing Cash Ticket. $43, 949, 672.76.” She took a selfie with her glowing face next to the words.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Bookman told the Daily News. “My body went numb.”

That’s when the stunning reversal of fortune began, according to WABC. Casino personnel and security escorted her off the floor and told her to return the next day for the decision regarding her jackpot, she said.

When Bookman returned, a casino rep told her she had won nothing because the machine malfunctioned. (A message on all machines states, “malfunctions void all pays and plays.”) In lieu of a lifetime of security, she was offered a steak dinner. She declined.

I love the "unemployed mother of four" bit as it has no revelance into anything going on in the casino. People put any sort of nonsense into article to take away from the point. Hilarious.

People make a bigger deal about her unemployed....I know females unemployed getting over $1500 a month in child support. Hell with 4 kids she might be bringing in a lot of child support. Some black men do have good jobs....if her man in military....they are tearing up his check. My cousin pays $800 a month for 1 kid.

Only a naive idiot would think they really won $43 m at a casino.

That sucks. She will sue, I guarantee it.

why wouldn't she sue? If it says she won, she ought to get the money. They could hide behind a malfunction message for anyone who wins.

1. Go to casino play slots. 2. Win $43 million jackpot 3. ??? 4. Get a steak dinner.

Well, I'm assuming they can pay me back all the money I've wasted in slot machines because there was some serious user error going on there.

How do y'all know she's poor because it says unemployed. If you have a job making 100k a year and get laid off your unemployed but I'm sure your not broke lol.

Nobody said she was poor. People said unemployed, just like the article did. And since she is unemployed, people are rightly questioning why she's using her limited money at the casino when she has four kids to take care of. It looks like her priorities are misplaced.

Lol what a joke. Absolutely zero machines in this entire country will display that message without a malfunction. No machine can print out any ticket over 1200. It will say call attendant. Hand pay xxx.xx. 100% of the time. I would bet that she hit cash put and didn't even hit real payout. That message looks like a common cash put message not any hand pay message.

According to casinos winning is a malfunction.

This actually happens all the time, but it usually isnt that amount of money so it doesn't get as much attention. Casinos are notorious for doing this.

Unemployed mother of 4 and she is gambling?

Yea really wtf is up with that lol

So she probably won $43 and went to print the ticket and it said 43 million. Thats different than her racking up 43 million in winnings, going to cash out and then they say nope.

There is so much wrong with this story, none of which involves the malfunctioning or not slot machine.

She probably knew that it malfunctioned. Who the frick thinks to take a selfie immediately after becoming filthy rich?

A lot of people take selfies for the most mundane of things. I think believing you just won 43 million is not one of those things.

Wtf? That would be the first thing I would think of doing just in case the casino did try to screw me.

Dude, a lady live streamed a cop shooting her husband in the car as he sat beside her. People video or photo everything.

That is dirty. If she is unemployed with 4 children, where did she get the money to gamble with? Wouldn't that money be needed for the kids? I hope she is not on some sort of government assistance program.
user avatar

That has nothing to with anything. Slot machines don't have to cost much to play. She got screwed, unemployed or not.

It does if she is dumping tax dollars from those who are employed into said malfunctioning machine. If someone loaned her the money, I don't have an issue with it, as long as her kids are not doing without so she can gamble.
