Lane Kiffin & LSU outsmarted the SEC & put them in a trap when we locked our roster.

I’ve seen countless theories as to what the latest statement made by the SEC actually means…

Here’s my thoughts. I know there were discussions about the whole Chambliss situation between LSU & Sankey before and after court hearings. Tony Clayton brought it up in court while Sankey was on the stand.

So I think one of many arguments LSU and their attorneys have made to settle this whole thing is if you’re going to abide by Chambliss’ court order then you have to abide by the other players’ court orders too. When they refused, LSU decided to lock their roster for the year, it no longer gives the SEC or Sankey an opportunity to right a wrong here.

I think LSU’s attorneys are now involved obviously being they are named in a lawsuit but chose not to file an actual response in court just yet (at least to my knowledge they haven’t) to allow the SEC & Sankey enough rope again to hang themselves and they were stupid enough once again to do just that.

The SEC is screwed either way. They can’t follow both court orders now because LSU’s roster is locked for the year. If they don’t accept Chambliss’ court order now, he’s removed from the team and it just gets worse. Chambliss and Ole Miss are now pissed and will both sue as well.

They have no choice but to accept what consequences they will receive from their actions. They’re looking at discrimination claims, collusion, corruption, anti-law trust violations, defamation, slander etc etc and they are in contempt of court now too!

I think the public statement the SEC made was to give themselves more time to discuss with their attorneys on which path is the least damaging for them at this point, but any path they take moving forward they are on the losing end of this thing. Now I bet they are all sitting around wondering how Lane Kiffin most of all has outsmarted all of them once again while Kiffin is sitting back smiling about the whole thing. Lol

When you allow your emotions to take over your logic, it can be a very costly lesson..

“I would like to thank that the last thing that went through commissioner Sanky’s head, other than that bullet, was how the hell did Lane Kiffin ever get the best of him”

I think that’s exactly what happened. Sankey has some vendetta against Kiffin and he acted before thinking it through.

Stankey and the SEC botched this big time. The more that comes out, I do not see how many of them do not lose their jobs.

They had many on their sides reporting total BS about LSU. Well tables have turned and they aint happy about it. The are VERY afraid of every aspect of LSU and our full alignment within our state government.

Ultimately all this has done for me is expose how dumb some people are even ones in very high positions and the hate some have for L S U.

I don't think this was an actual legal strategy as to why they didn't roster those 2 players. I feel it was about the possibility of LSU going to the playoffs and winning a title or even an SEC title that having those guys on the roster and all this legal wrangling thru the year, would've put a blemish on the accomplishments of the team, whether it is a title or deep run in the playoffs. We would've heard about the court battles and media opinions all year.
I think that is the real reason. Putting the SEC in a box is a fringe benefit and having a lot of the media start to turn to LSU's favor makes it even better.

Oh they realized when they amended the suit to say it was about LSU
And not the players.
Well, it was between the players AND THE SEC AND NCAA AND NEVER LSU AND THE SEC AND NCAA.
Let’s see what they do about Wade and the GLeague player.

My opinion, maybe not popular, is NO EUROLEAGUE or any other basketball player should be allowed to play college sports bc they were professionals. Why discriminate against GLeague when some of these guys, we know can end up in the NBA HoF like Dirk and others…
It’s complete bullshite.

I just laugh at anyone now that doesn't believe the SEC and by extension, the sports media, absolutely hates LSU (until LSU can provide them with money from views....they still hate LSU but hold their hands out for the pay).

The SEC, NCAA, and their media have been allowed to selectively enforce rules for decades, openly rig games, alter schedules, rule athletes ineligible, etc. Every time they were "caught" they could just throw a name like LSU under the bus, and our prior administrations would just bend over and take it. This goes all the way back to the 80's and Dale Brown, for example.

This new LSU leadership is now telling them to frick off and we aren't backing down. You have cheated for years, you are allowing your favorites to cheat now, and we are also going to skirt the rules if we can. Oh, and we aren't your fall guy anymore.

The bully can't handle being stood up to.

If a court order can override eligibility rules, a court order also unlock a roster to remove two injured players.

Agree, Tony says to Sankey “cut the check for $100M to make this go away”!

Yep but I also think he did not act alone in this. I won 100% believe Alabama was at the forefront of it, but staying quiet publicly about it and let Tennessee and Ole Miss take the blame for going after him.

Very true especially if the injured players were added under duress.

Bama grads are still the majority of the driving force in SEC leadership. Of course they were leading the charge.

Think about it that SEC office is in Alabama. They have enough connections in that state that if they wanted to shut this whole thing down, including Sankey they would have.

They thought they could all get away with it because they’ve gotten away with screwing over LSU so many times in the past.

I could just hear them in these meetings “oh that’s why we had to fire him here at Alabama. He is such a problem.” Ball blah blah You can bet Money they weren’t defending Kiffin unless it benefits them, but they’re not gonna make a public statement about him because they wanna leave the door open of the possibility of hiring him in the future.

They act like they would have nothing to do with him and that they would never hire him, but let him win championships at LSU and that’s exactly what they will try today. So they’re silence and all of this fool me. They are the leader and all of this and the head snake because they control that SEC office and they control whoever sits in that commissioner seat.

And let me add it will be brought up that the SEC picks and choose is when they listen to the NCAA rules and when they don’t just like they pick and choose when they will listen to court orders and when they won’t. All of that is gonna be the basis of this case or any future lawsuit because it shows exactly who they are and how they operate.

OP mixing great point. I’m not sure if there will be any repercussions for Chambless, however, it is clear that locking the roster prevents the SEC for mitigating the damage it caused to the LSU players. They are going to pay a lot of money to the kids who had lawful court orders and were not allowed to pay. They may also be exposed to attorneys fees in trouble damages. If collusion is established as this would trigger the Sherman antitrust act can possibly a civil Rico claim.
