Motivation of SEC to keep the Federal Case open

No particular order
1.) handicap Football and Basketball recruiting. Let the threat of penalties and suspensions linger for as long as possible
2.) leverage for the College Athletic bill in the House. Case dropped if I get your vote
3.) Payback for perceived tampering in the Kiffin and Wade hires
4.) Payback for Sankey’s embarrassing testimony
As an earlier post highlighted - there is definitely a coordinated effort to “Cancel” LSU Athletics through the SEC’s mouthpieces.
Not sure what LSU’s leverage is, but Birmingham should not underestimate the intellect and resourcefulness of our allies.

I get that. But pissing off Johnson and Kennedy may make this a bad play.

That bill prob won’t pass. The NAACP is heavily against it and I don’t see any dem senator going against that group. Corey Booker was going off on it the other day.

I would block it if I were in congress. Are you kidding me? If you think the NCAA created a mess, wait until you see what 435 jack wagons decide is "best" for college sports.
This is not and should never be an issue for the federal government. It's bad enough that the courts are involved.

Somebody else posted this point back in the middle of the fight but it is a real chance that the SEC is not liking LSU's financial move regarding private equity. I am not sure I am either but I can believe that this is a cloaked attempt to restrict what LSU does on this front. This is waaaaayy deeper than roster management issues.

Good point, but I didn’t think LSU was alone or first out with that model…but as you highlight, most things in life come down to money.
