It’s been a hot and fiery summer out west. But thankfully it is winding down. Time to start thinking of the future…
I got these candles in yesterday and said a prayer. I’m doing my part
Snowbasin season pass for me. Also got a 4 day ikon session. I think we might take a couple weekend trips, not sure where yet. Thinking Big Sky and somewhere in Oregon or California.

How do y'all like Steamboat? Never been, and it is high on the list of choices. Closer drive for me than the other Colorado resorts.

Booked a vail trip last week and looking at a possible steamboat trip late march/early April. Got some new skis last season I’m itching to ride!

It's a solid blue mountain with lots of trees and a lot of terrain. I really enjoyed the town there, very easy to walk around
No current trips booked for me yet, but given the el nino, likely looking at Taos NM, Mammoth/Tahoe CA, and maybe Colorado. Very likely doing a mid december trip for a week so I'll follow the snow.

I went as a kid and am now taking my young kids there to learn. It's a great value for teaching small kids. Skiing is just an expensive hobby, but Steamboat lifts/rentals/lessons aren't as bad as most major resorts. We like the ski village and town. People are friendly.
There's direct flights from DFW to make the trip pretty smooth. Until my kids are old enough to lug their own stuff and can ski well, it's the best value option for us.

It would be a family trip with a 7 and 4 y/o, so that is great. Seems like it would be a good choice for us since there's a lot of blues.

riding the bike park at bogus basin this summer and wondering when they'll uncover the giant pile of snow and start spreading it for winter:

will probably ride at bogus for most of the season, hard to beat a resort 20.5 miles and 40 minutes from my front door. if we get a decent winter will certainly want to hit some of the smaller, independent resorts close by to support them. brundage is high on the list, but smaller resorts like pomerelle, solider, and anthony lakes in oregon are all within 2.5 hours.
also got a touring setup at the end of last winter and got a few short tours in. hoping to head back and visit in-laws in OR/WA this summer to ski the volcanoes. was there in late june and the palmer lift was still running at timberline, and if we'd gotten a normal winter the worm flows route up mt st helens and camp muir at rainier would have been totally doable.

If you want to hit the easy button, look on Vacasa at condos in torian plum. Doesnt get much easier with kids. We were also pleasantly surprised at the convenience and effectiveness of using their shuttle. Made it easy when half our crew got the flu and needed to get to doctors and pharmacy. Transport to/from airport was really the only other logistics to plan if staying at torian plum.

I'm getting a few 4-packs for Loveland. If the super El Nino prediction pans out, Loveland is gonna get hammered.

I've seen a few decent fall sales already but flights are pretty expensive. Give it another few weeks. If you book normal economy you can always refare if the price goes down and get the credit for the difference. Don't book basic if you think you'll want to change anything date or time wise
Set up a Google flights tracker for your dates and exclude basic economy (I think you can do that now)
