I see your point. The season feels lost, and as I’ve been saying since 2020, LSU is “Next Year U.” But let’s be real, we’re 2 plays away (one of them a really, really idiotic one that could’ve easily been avoided) from being undefeated. Those losses could’ve easily gone our way, they have gone our way in the past many times, and everyone would be singing a different tune despite having the same team, stats, injuries, and everything else.

Leavitt is a lot better than I expected. The turnovers are concerning, but the dude can throw. Like, significantly better than JD his first season. He’s shown more improvement than I expected, and there’s potential there.

It sucks spending this much money on a roster and coaching staff only for the season to feel over in October. But given the injuries, I think Lane is doing a good job. Baker, on the other hand, is overrated and needs to go.

Winning on the road in the SEC is hard. We were one play away from pulling it off twice. If those plays go our way, we’d be singing Lane’s praises. The losses hurt, but let’s keep some perspective. Lane isn’t dropping the ball just because a couple of close games didn’t break our way. I think he’s actually doing a really good job.

The only thing that I am disappointed with so far is Lane coaching the offense like Les Miles and BK.

Lane isn’t dropping the ball just because a couple of close games didn’t break our way.

How many seasons would this need to happen before you say “okay, this is unacceptable”?

Talks of firing Lane are retarded. Talks of him never going to be great here are equally as stupid.

But I don’t love the constant excuses a lot of fans are making for him.

We brought him in so those close games would go our way. Or they wouldn’t be close at all, in our favor.

If Lane lost 2-3 games a year that he had us in but lost at the end, that’s gonna become unacceptable for this fanbase eventually.

yeah people are taking this way too seriously. It's football, big freakin' deal. It's fun when they're good but is your life really so empty that it tears you up when they're bad?

Brian Kelly came in with moderately high expectations, beat Bama in year one, and won a division title.

In year 2, LSU stumbled immediately out of the gate despite fielding a heisman trophy winning qb.

In year 3, LSU looked like it had all the pieces, came out the gate looking like a contender, and then completely fell apart.

This season, so far, looks indistinguishable from year 3 under Brian Kelly. Hopefully, Lane can rally the troops, win the next two games, steal one from Bama or Texas, and prove this team can win on the road, but it could just as easily implode entirely.

This team is struggling in the two most vital categories: red zone tds and turnover margin. They remind me of a Philip Rivers San Diego Chargers team years ago that led the NFL in total offense and total defense but missed the playoffs due to turnover margin. I also see a lot of dumb mistakes like false starts and delay of game penalties coming out of timeouts. Those show poor communication and discipline.

The results are similar but the product on the field is vastly superior. We were very limited offensively in 2024 compared to what we have now. Kelly had no solutions for fixing massive problems on his roster that seemed to pop up everywhere. My only gripe with Lane so far is that he’s been too conservative in big moments.

This is ignorant.

LSU is #7 in total defense with 3 teams above that only playing 6 games. And we lost two key guys, one of whom was the leader of the defense.

1st half of ole miss is on Lane - 2nd Half of Ole Miss they could hardly move the ball and only scored 8pts

Kentucky game - take away the short fields and punt return, and what are we talking about?

Yes, he isn't perfect, and who is, and there are instances where we are undisciplined and misaligned, but as a whole, I don't know what else you want him to do.

Well the season is over. Unless you enjoy going to the Texas bowl again. Kiffin pissed it away when he didn't go for it on fourth and one. Baker then screwed the pooch with his sorry arse defense.

there are probably 60 teams who could say, with a straight face "we're two plays away from being undefeated."

"If you take away their touchdown, and make it a 99 yard fumble return instead, we're undefeated!"

You’re proving my point. The Bama game is exactly what I’m talking about. That game came down to the last play like UK and Ole Miss did, but it went our way.

A 2 point conversion doesn’t make the difference between a bad or good coaching job. If you want to talk about defense the whole game, that’s a different story. But vs Bama the cards fell in our favor. It could’ve easily been a loss, and Ole Miss and especially UK could’ve easily been wins.

It’s easy to criticize when we’re on the losing side. It’s going to happen sometimes. Things will break our way.

So. . . no responsibility for the players that let KY return a punt for a TD?? They don't do that, we win in regulation.

You can't just single out the coaches. Players have to make plays, not get stupid penalties at key times, etc.

Yes, the coaches are fallible and will make mistakes, but the players and their lack of execution have to be included in the conversation as well.

It takes time to coach the BK out of this team.

I love the fact that we blew out Clemson and A&M and made them exciting games. BK would have won those 20-10 while calling us spoiled.

I loved the fact that we clawed back vs OM and didn’t let them blow us out.

Not finishing games and losing games like we did suck but it’s fixable by all facets of the game
