Whole Pork Bellies on sale at Rouses

I got this weeks store ad and it's showing whole skin on pork bellies for $2.99 a lb.
I remove the skin and prep it to make fried pork skins and season the bellies, let them marinate for a week and then smoke them to make bacon.
I've bought my share of them from Costco over the years and they've not been below $3.99 a lb. at their store, so $1 a lb. off will save me at least $12 or so.
They are also selling whole chickens for $.99 a lb. with a limit of 2. Decent price for a big whole chicken.

Thanks baw. For those in TX, HEB has pork butts at $1.99 / lb. I'll be grabbing one for the freezer.

Local store here in N.O. called Robert's has them priced at $1.59 lb. for the twin pack.
I guess gone are the days of $.99 a lb. pork butts that once was a regular thing in the local markets.

I've been to 2 Rouses in the Lafayette area, and neither had whole bellies, only frozen pre-cut slabs that looked like utter shite. Going to try one more time before the sale ends as I need to make some more bacon, but not holding my breath they'll have anything decent.

When I went to get one, all they had were smaller pieces probably no more than 2 lbs. each. I got hold of one of the guys in the meat market and asked to get a whole pork belly if they had them and he came out with a 16 lb. slab that I bought.
It had skin on, which is OK with me since I process it and make fried pork skins with it and I cut up the belly into 4 equal parts. seasoned them, vacuum sealed them and have them marinating in my fridge for a week to smoke and make bacon next weekend.

Franks in Des Allemands had Pork Butts on sale a few weeks ago for $1.19, lowest I've saw it in a while.

Yep, I bought one already and usually have my wife clip the coupon on her app to get a second one when they have a limit of 1. Super1 had pork butts for $.97/lb a week or two ago as well. Deals can still be had, I usually stock up when I see them.

Couple weeks back Canseco's in Old Arabi had 0.99/lb pork butt in twin packs.

I need to stock up to make boudin next time my son comes to town, but my garage freezer went out last month so I'm short on freezer space. Luckily, we caught it the day it quit cooling and were able to squeeze everything into the other freezer.

These were just straight up .99/lb with no coupon needed. It said one per customer, but the price applied to multiple when I purchased 2 at the same time

You do realize a pork belly is probably about 70% fat to begin with.

The ones I picked up and looked at were almost entirely white.
