..and slam into the back of the sofa, i'm reminded over and over what a great decision it was to go with LVP over traditional hardwoods.
our house would look like an outdoor kennel by now and we'd probably be on our third restain and refinish.
ZERO scuffs or scratches (except where i melted it with a reptile light upstairs or the chunk missing where my wife threw a cutting board at me
)
ETA pic of the perpetrator

That's the look of a dog that is spoiled and doesn't understand why you won't just leave the door open so he can come and go as he pleases.
Can you expand on the incident of the wife throwing the cutting board at you. I guess it's good she didn't throw the knife.

will never speak badly about my wife but it was a combination of her emotions at her daughter graduating high school and being exhausted from the 117 events over the last 3 months and her husband making a snarky comment at the wrong time
i accept 100% responsibility

Hell, I just moved to a house with old hardwoods and the scratches are great character and now I’m not concerned about dogs, furniture, etc.

I often wish my home didn't come with hardwood flooring. Refinished them a couple years ago and they are perfect. But its a constant effort to keep them that way.

I don’t have a dog. Much of my red oak hardwood floors are 80 years old and finished only with stain and wax. They look good. Noticeable scratches are rare. I really only wax them every 10 years or so - they would look even better if I did it more often. The polyurethaned floors in my house show scratches much more. I prefer the waxed floor.
I don’t think LVP would look this good after 80 years.

Our floors are white oak but lower quality boards and made to look worn.
We have three dogs (bernese mountain dog puppy who's 80lbs at 9mths old, doodle and little terrier mutt). The floors are scratched but gives then "character".
ETA: pretty pup Cad. We had a yellow lab that was my best friend. We had to put him down in Sept. He was the best dog I've ever had and I miss him terribly.
The BMD is goofy as hell but very sweet and smart.

i told the story on the OT but my wife rescued her and her sister from a dumpster behind a church. someone had glued jewels to her fur and thrown her in the garbage.
the landscapers working at the church that day found them and my wife immediately brought one to the vet to have the jewels cut out of her fur and another friend of our adopted her sister.
it was so sad, she was TINY. because williamson county is freaking amazing, they considred this a 'rescue' so she's gotten all her shots, checkups and now scheduled spaying for free.
i didn't want to keep her but now i can't imagine life without her. we have 4 dogs and she's by far the sweetest, goofiest one. she couldn't get enough to eat for the first few weeks we had her but now she's fat & happy and loves to go swimming in the pond and chase the geese around.
this is her a few days after we rescued her. you can see where the vet cut the jewels out of the fur on her head.

I don't think real wood floors are meant to be blemish-free. Just my opinion.
We have an old house build in the 30's with the original wood floors--they are scratched to shite and absolutely beautiful.
