Hawaii’s Democratically controlled legislature passed a tax package Friday that establishes a new 13% income tax bracket for households earning more than $1 million per year while preserving some personal income tax cuts for lower-income filers.

Maybe they should try to reduce the government nepotism and inefficiency instead of killing and eating the golden goose.

I don’t think they care.

IIRC, the unofficial motto of the state is “frick the Haoles!”

It's a new day but democrats only have old ideas.

Is there any state where taxing the living piss out of rich people has worked long term?

Has any politician looked at the spending side of the problem in any of these already highly taxed states?

I don't think a 2% tax increase (it was previously 11%) will compel Zuck and Ellison to move. They'll continue to find ways to limit their taxable income.

Gabriel Iglasias has a whole routine about Hawaiians looking like “swollen Mexicans” and being mistaken for Hawaiian because of a shirt he wears.

Kind of reminds me of AOC driving Amazon out of Queens and along with hundreds of jobs. The left is ideologically stupefied that way.

Not only that, but we are seeing the tipping point of to many people dependent on government benefits now. Not that this pertains to Hawaii, but you just can't let in 20 million low IQ, no skill illegals, and dump them on the system already full of fraud. Unless the shite is completely reversed and cleaned up, I don't think we have 20 years left of stability.

They did that big time when they issued a birth certificate to an adult presidential candidate.

Oprah will not be impacted.

$100 her wealth is in trusts no where associated with any high tax state.

The wealth tax on California was a 5% tax on all assets for individuals worth over $1 billion. Not the same as Hawaii increased income tax for high earners.
