Desmond Howard of ESPN’s “College GameDay” appeared on Rich Eisen’s radio show this Thursday to discuss Arch Manning’s Week 1 rough outing...
quote:

“All of the hype and Heisman talk around him was unwarranted,” Howard said, via the New York Post. “He doesn’t deserve having his name in the same breath as that trophy.”

Howard then criticized ESPN for the way it covered Manning’s Week 1 performance against Ohio State.

“I saw guys on ‘SportsCenter’ and other shows pulling like three tape plays and showing how he may have confused Arch Manning with a look or secondary switch at the last minute. I’m watching the film and I can show you 10-12 plays where guys were running wide open and he either just didn’t hit them with the ball or he didn’t see these guys. It wasn’t that complex or complicated.”

Heismans are won in November. He and Texas have plenty time to right the ship. That said, Nuss will win it along with the natty.

So the media likes to create false narratives to get more clicks, who would have thought!

well I did try to warn everyone that our offense would look just as bad or worse against good teams as the last 3 years because the guy playing QB is not the problem. It's the moron who's supposed to be coaching him and calling plays.

Dez being a prick with the "in the same breath". As if it's Arch's fault dezs company hyped him up for commercial purposes. Gawd I hate what CFB has turned into.

The Manning machine had all the talking heads over hyping this kid coming out of high school (playing a junior high schedule of competition).

Arch Manning is getting a lot of love because of his family. Despite that he is an inexperienced quarterback in a power five conference. I expect him to have the same type of year that Nuss had with LSU last year. namely streaks of competence are mixed with bone headed decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a Manning Family fan. They have dissed LSU at every opportunity when it would’ve been to their advantage. Despite that I feel for arch as he has had overhyped expectations.

It seems to have worked out pretty well for the Mannings despite none attending LSU.

Arch would be the first Manning to win it despite the previous three being the first (Peyton, Eli) or second (Archie) overall pick in the draft, so Arch has a tough task ahead.

I knew Arch was going to have a bad day when he bounced a pass 5 yards short of a wide open receiver on his very first play.

Of course Dez won't give Ohio State credit.

He literally praised them in the video. He's right. The Patricia talk was just to not pile on Arch. It got insane because that's all you'd hear. Patricia didn't have him throw at guys' feet when he had a clean pocket.

His heisman hopes are done. For this year at least. The only thing the media loves better than hyping somebody up is tearing them down when they dont live up to it.

With the soft schedule they have coming up, look for Arch to be the Heisman front runner again by Sunday

They could easily lose at least 4 games this year.

I had them losing 3 games coming into the year, same with Bama (although i thought they'd beat FSU). Too much crowning teams and there was no reason for it. Ohio St is also being crowned too much.
