Butch Jones Is Reportedly Talking To Tennessee Commits After Getting Fired
Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports
Tennessee fired head coach Butch Jones on Sunday. Then word got out that he reportedly spoke to Vols’ 5-foot-9, 180-pound DB commit out of Orlando, Tanner Ingle. Per the Orlando Sentinel...
quote:

The ousted coach (Jones) called Ingle personally.

“I spoke with Coach Jones about 30 minutes ago,” the Orlando Dr. Phillips defensive back said about 12:30 Sunday afternoon. “He said he didn’t really expect that to happen, but it did so he told me to find a place to go, quickly … and that if he gets anything he will contact me.””
Then... Hmm...

contract evolution. after termination contact with recruits will now be addressed. in the past, a fired coach would be more composed because he would be looking for his next job and does not want a destructive reputation, imo.

He would of left anyway because he is a super smart kid...according to Larry’s article, he’s a Dr.

Well, what did Tenn. think would happen? Butch wont be singing their praises ever again

Seems normal to me. Coaches pretend to be these players best friend for 2 years. I would hope they would call them

Orgeron called kids telling them not to go to class, when he and Kiffin left for USC.

What's uncool about it?

If he had already been terminated, he's violated the terms of his buyout. Until he's employed by another school, he can't contact committed prospects. Orgeron did something similar, but he was already employed by USC at the time.

“He said he didnt really expect that to happen”... im gonna call BS on that one Butch

Likely when is first started recruiting him it wasn't likely to happen.

Any rule against that?

This team has quit on him. Guess he recruited the wrong people. "but he's 6'2" and runs a 4.6"

They fired him. He owes them nothing now.

He isn't completely unattached to the university. He has a buyout that could be impacted.

UTk will no longer be Champions of Life. That moniker will follow those wise recruits that follow Butch Jones to FIU where he will be a championship-caliber assistant coach.

FIU has Butch Davis. 100x the coach Jones could ever hope to be.

You mean he is doing what 99.9% of coaches do? Shocker

"He said he didn’t really expect that to happen". WOW, is butch really that blind?

He had to cover for the lies he had been telling the recruits........

It depends on when he said it. Remember Butch had some good seasons leading into this one.
