Russia added these extra bleachers to their Ekaterinburg Arena in preparation for them hosting the 2018 World Cup. Originally planned as a 27,000 seat stadium, FIFA requires more seats so they added temporary seats to bring the total capacity to 45,000. And those seats are terrifying...

That looks about as comfortable as Tiger Stadium. At least they have chair backs.

If the original stadium seated 27K and it now seats 45K, that would mean there are 18K temporary seats???? The temporary seats look very dangerous and unstable.

They do know that a shite ton of drunk russian soccer fans in those seats, right? And they do know that soccer fans don't typically just sit and watch, they jump and dance and riot, right? Did I mention the drunk russian soccer fans? ... What scares me is that these plans had to be approved, that means more than one person thought this was a good idea.

Holy shite. Imagine going down those steps after you've had a few. Any stumble could be deadly.

The terrible seating almost takes attention away from how shitty everything surrounding the stadium is.

I've always had have a fear of falling when I'm sitting in the upper deck of a stadium. This structure would play mind games with me like no other.

That's not scaffolding. It's a welded (or bolted) lattice steel frame. The most basic structural design there is.

The most corrupt sporting body on the face of planet earth, FIFA. Look how they have to screw up the stadium's design to add these to the outside. Top few rows will see nothing as they're blocked by the damn roof. FIFA needs to get over itself.

Look online at the other pics. The entire structure is made out of scaffolding with the bleachers sitting on top. It actually does look terrifying imo.
