Agree. I don't take a wheeled carryon when I travel internationally and use a travel backpack (wife and I share a wheeled bag and doing two wheelies on trains/in cities is hard). But why would you care if someone does? It makes life easier for the most part.

As for Americans vs. Chinese tourists there is no comparison. Locals treat them completely differently, as in "shame on Americans they should know better" vs. "Chinese tourists are a completely different type of tourist and you can't even begin to make headway in curbing their behavior." I occasionally encounter a rude/annoying American but not that often, certainly not as often as I encounter a chinese lady with a DSLR watching me set up a photo and then moving 5 feet in front of me to copy what I'm doing. It's absolutely bizarre. The only plus of Chinese tourists is the comic relief of watching them take selfies in front of signs or water fountains or phone booths instead of the alpine vista directly behind said thing.

In general, other tourists are my biggest pet peeve. It's probably hypocritical. I mean, I want the killer instagram post too. But traveling off season, getting out early/staying out late helps that a lot. Oh, another pet peeve: tourists who like to pretend they're better than everyone else. So double hypocrisy for me.

wut?

I should carry my suitcase 1/2 mile when I have the option to easily roll my sweet arse 4-spinning-wheeled suitcase instead? Yeah, no.

Not to mention you certainly can't tell who is "able bodied" just by looking. Obvi posted by a youngster who doesn't have any repaired joints, herniated discs, etc that aren't readily visible to others.

Wheelies don't bother me unless someone runs over my foot. I've actually had more negative encounters with giant backpacks than with wheelies. I'm short, so when Big Dude with Overstuffed Osprey abruptly turns next to me, I get clothslined and Big Dude never sees a thing. To me, you need to carry a big pack in your hand in crowded areas or when boarding a plane. In a narrow aise, even a quarter turn means you're whacking ppl with that big pack.

Asians are the frickin' worst, man.

I was in the Reich museum in Amsterdam. I'm not much into art, but I was having a moment of reverence while looking at a 14th-century painting of Christ. In the middle of my admiring, some 5' Chinese lady cuts right in front of me to take a picture of the damn painting.

Similar situation in Paris. We were in the Notre Dame cathedral and Mass was going on. I was trying to listen to the priest say the Eucharist in French and thought it was really interesting. Lo and behold a group of Chinese tourists walks in and their guide has some sort of megaphone for narrating. All in Chinese of course. So goddamn rude and inconsiderate.

I’ve been around plenty of Chinese and Indian tourists......I’m still handing the prize for ultra loud to the Americans.

I think this is because you are American. We don't really get embarrassed for someone we aren't related to. We get embarrassed on how other Americans act.

There are plenty of bad tourists that are not Americans. Many Europeans don't like groups of Italian men for example, they can be very arrogant and loud. Brits don't have a great rap either, they generally are arrogant and want things their way also.

Chinese and Japanese just prefer to travel in their own large tourist groups. So I think they stick out more. Its not like Selfie sticks aren't common by many Caucasian cultures also.

One of my biggest travel pet peeves is women generally but anyone that takes more luggage then they can handle. If you can't lift your own carry on above your head to place it and remove it from the over head bin, its too freaking big. If you have 4 pieces of luggage and take up the entire hallway trying to move it around, its too much.

As already mentioned, fricking people crowding the luggage claim area. Just stand back 10 feet, when your luggage comes around, step forward and grab it.
Actually the worst place I’ve seen this is New Orleans airport.

And the people running to the front of the plane from the rear when the door is opened, do need to be shot in the head.

One other thing, more of an annoyance than a pet peeve (and kind of mentioned already), are those fricking Indian and African guys selling garbage in the plazas of Italy. I don’t know if it’s like this in other European countries, but it’s bad in Italy.
No, I don’t want your glow in the dark rocket launcher, squashy ball, or phone charger. Venice is starting to nip it in the bud, because it wasn’t as bad as Rome and Florence. I did not see a single guy selling purses on the sidewalk in Venice. They were stacked on top of each other in Rome and Florence.

I travel and some places I go to just don’t have a lot of options. After a long day with getting to my room after 7pm I will get a recommendation sheet from the front desk.
Bottom line is all I want is a few beers and a burger. Any basic chain will do.
But most of the time I find a local place.

The entire air travel experience. We try to avoid flying for vacation because it puts me in such a bad mood. I can't pinpoint the main reason, but I think turning over the control to the airlines and the weather has a lot to do with it.

This had only become a problem in recent years. I used to fly once or twice a month for work and it never bothered me much. That was also pre-9/11.

This. I think for me I feel like I'm taking a vacation to get away from people and crowds but before I can I have to deal with the dumbest people on earth first. It is very frustrating to see people that can afford to travel act so damn dumb.

I feel like driving is actually way more stressful....anything more than an 8 hr drive, and I'm flying. I'd rather fly transatlantic than drive from NO to Austin. At least in an airport, you can get a drink, a chair massage, a slice of pizza, and walk around.

I've commuted 40+ miles a day for 18+ years. The last effing thing I wanna do on vacation is get behind the wheel for a long road trip.

I'm glad that Americans are no longer the loudest and most obnoxious travelers. The Russians and Chinese say hold my beer.

I can’t stand the Toilet Safety Administration (TSA). They always hire the most hood rat people, they are never consistent, and they don’t actually stop anything. They move like sloths and they just don’t care.

THIS!

We've got friends we travel with. They always want to go to some chain. I'm talking Cabo Wabo or Senor Frogs!

Yeah, this isn't even close. I'm in an Admirals Club lounge in the Miami airport in a room with dim lights and signs saying that there is no cell phone use allowed. Ha. There are three people on their cell phones, one on speaker. All speaking Spanish.
