You can stay in a pretty decent 4 star hotel in Manhattan for less money than a Motel 6 in Nashville. It is staggering.

Its not quite that bad but you can certainly stay in a 4 star hotel in Manhattan for about the same price as a 2 star motel in Nashville on any given weekend. It has been this way for several years and there is no action to correct it....rooms being built left and right but according to the industry all of them being built and planning to be built will do is maintain supply and demand, not increase supply and lower demand....

Charleston is the same way. You have to go out pretty far to have any kind of sanity with hotel prices.

Folks need to go to Charleston, Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach though....and forget about going to nasty old dirty and stinking Beaufort. There is no good reason for one more person to ever visit Beaufort....there is nothing at all redeeming about Beaufort.....

The problems with Charleston is that there is only so much usable space downtown, plus almost all of the hotels there are luxury focused. Nobody is coming in and building a new Motel 6.

You would think Nashville would have more balance with more price-focused hotels near Broadway along with the upscale brands.

With all the construction downtown I'm not sure why more hotels aren't being built within 1 mile or so away from Vanderbilt. My wife is from there but I don't know the city that well, but it seems like everything is between Vanderbilt to down town, and not much in regards to Hotels the other 4 directions. I know some of it isn't the best areas, but there's enough money to change that.

As said, parking downtown can be $40-60. The reason Fri- Sat nights are so high is because so many people go to Nashville for a weekend and hit the bars, and they don't want to uber around.

I felt like peak Nashville was around 2013-2017. Seems like the last 5 or so years it’s gotten to be more commercial than a genuine and quaint place.

Check out Homewood Suites by Hilton Nashville-Downtown. Looks like decent rooms in May can be had for less than $300.

It’s on the outskirts of downtown, only a 9 minute walk to the Ryman. We stayed there for a week two years ago. It had a nice hot breakfast area, included in our deal, with different main items each day. Walked in and out of there at night several times with no issues.

Well yeah. You want something nice? You gonna pay for it.

Unless you banking some rewards, you are going to pay heavily for something nice. This isn’t new.

We budget $1k a day all in if we trying to enjoy ourselves. And that’s just the wife and I. That includes her United Card and my Marriott Card.

It’s pretty amazing if you stay out of the cheesy big commercial bars like Kid Rock’s bar. Every building has live music coming from it starting at 10am. 3 days is enough for me though.

Our hotel on Broadway for 4 nights for the Vandy game was right at $1,000 and I thought that was pricey.
