Which river is best to float with kids? Guadalupe, Comal, or Frio?

Thinking about making a short weekend trip with the kids before they start school in a couple of weeks. They’re 11 and 7. Which river would be best to bring them on?
I haven’t floated any of them myself in over 20 years so don’t remember too much. Might be a bad idea all around.

The Rio Grande is pretty popular these days.

Frio probably won’t have enough flow to float this late, it has been dry. You will end up having to do a lot of walking; if not for that it would be the best.
The Comal is a short float through New braunfels, doesn’t take long, so you typically ride a shuttle and do the float a few times to fill a day.
The Guadalupe has several floats some longer than others, if the flow is good any you pick should be fine, there is one called the horseshoe that is good with kids

Does the Guad have enough water to float? Some areas can suck when low. Frio is nice with the cold temp.

The Frio. It’s where George Strait learned to swim

Float the guadelupe from the lone star float house and grab some burgers from there when you’re done. You can thank me later.

Comal. Frio hasn’t had enough water to actually float like the Guadalupe or Comal in years. Comal over the Guadalupe based on assclown factor. You can find great places with rapids that your kids can float and walk back up on the Frio though. Need to be just downstream of springs (like just south of Leakey).
Go to Pats Place while you are there.

Did both last weekend, depends on what you're looking for:
Guad: Left from Lonestar Floathouse, river was low and had to walk a few spots, relatively empty, super relaxed, can bring cans. Did the middle float, ~2 hours
Comal: Used Landa River Trips (avoid the wait at Texas Tubes), river was deep but very crowded and fun, the 3 chutes are cool, has a can ban. ~5 hours

Typically, I prefer the Frio for a nice family vacation and the Guadalupe for a party trip.
But right now, the Comal is probably going to have the most water in it. Late July and August are not optimal times to float the rivers in the Hill Country. You'll be dragging your butt a bit, so make sure you get tubes with bottoms.

Comal is always reliable and more family oriented. In town which is convenient.
Guadalupe can be a pain when it’s low. The horseshoe below the dam is easy and usually less walking.

While I agree that Comal is the choice, the Frio has plenty water when we get rain. I haven't heard anyone else mention that it isn't floatable in May and June.

I agree. The Frio is our favorite. We were on the Frio Memorial Week. It was great. That was 2 months ago and it hasn’t really rained.

So how'd this work out? Thinking about doing the same in early October. With practically no rain for 2 months, I'm wondering if Comal water levels are high enough to fully enjoy it.
