I know you don't know much about LV because, of the three hotels you named, Circus Circus and the Strat are #'s 1 and 2 on every "don't stay here" list that is published.

i don't know much about LV and have only been once and it was ages ago but now I'm intrigued...what is it about those 2 hotels that makes them so bad?

Some of the oldest and most outdated on the Strip. They smell of smoke and also are at the far end of the Strip so that they aren't really walkable to the rest of the casinos, especially the Strat. If someone's only choice of staying on the Strip were those 2 hotels, I'd tell them to stay downtown on Fremont instead.

Why on earth would you stay there with kids?

Cancel those rooms and head to St George, Zion, North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Stay middle of the strip- Link, Harrahs or Flamingo. Decent price and way easier to walk to other places. The arcade at circus circus would be the only reason to get remotely close to that place. There are going to be tons of free music venues along the strip yall can kill an hour at

Do not stay at Circus Circus!!!!

Complete shite hole. We went a couple years ago with my teenage daughters. We went to CC for the arcade and “amusement park”. The place was nasty. My daughter was 14 at the time and she said that she felt she was gonna catch pink eye any second (and she’s not a germaphobe). We stayed 15 mins and left.

New York New York has a very nice arcade, plus the roller coaster. You got the rides at the top of the Stratosphere ($$$).
My daughters loved Vegas and want to go back (I hated it BTW).

There’s a reason Circus Circus is the cheapest hotel on the strip, it’s a dump.

The Flamingo is where we stayed. It’s very nice, clean, great location.

Pretty much everything in this thread is spot on. Except I like cheesy and the heart attack grill was too ridiculous even for me.

I have stayed at the MGM Grand before and it was fine.
The MGM also has some nice condos right behind the main Resort that we stayed at once and having more than a hotel room was very nice. It's relatively close to the heart of the strip but be forewarned, you will walk a lot in Vegas and the heat can be brutal depending on the time of year.

Love the Park MGM. Only fully non-smoking resort on the strip.

Can't tell you how nice it was to be able so sit and gamble without having granny light up a Pall Mall

Circus Circus might be the most depressing place on the strip.

Look into getting a Go City pass, best kept secret in travel in my opinion. A 4-5 day pass is around $300 a person. You get to pick one “premium” attraction (Blue Man Group, KA, helicopter tour are a few on the list) then there is about 30 other attractions you can use it for, just pick and choose what you want to do, a lot of it is geared towards teens. My wife and I did 4 days last year and the only thing we paid for outside of the pass was tickets to Love one night. We have also used Go City in Orlando.

I go to Vegas a fair amount.

I love Circus Circus but stay in the West Tower above the hotel lobby or the Tower above the Casino.

Do not stay in the Motor lodge...like a Motel 6.

Madilay Bay is nice. Similar to Excaliber and Luxor. Now we stay at Park MGM.

There is a Pinball Musuem on the strip down by the famous sign. About 100 machines of different ages. Everything from Athletes, to Music to Movies and old styles.

The shows like KA, Beatles Love and Michael Jackson are cool.

Fremont Street is great also the old section of Vegas that you see on TV. Also you can go to the Pawn Shop from Pawn Stars.

We enjoy Red Rock and Hoover Dam.

There are some interesting places to eat that will not break the bank for Teens.

White Castle
In and Out Burger
Giordano's Deep Dish Pizza

Vegas isn't a terrible option.

You can stay off the strip to help with sensory issues. We always stayed in Summerlin. Right by the Red Rocks and not a far drive if you want to take him to a show.

Hash House A Go Go he'd probably love if he is into food. Its nothing crazy amazing and a chain but they do cool stuff.

You could take him to Seven Magic Mountains to see the rocks. Right around there is a pretty great burger joint, that I am completely drawing a blank on.

And yes, Hoover Dam is cool.

There is a ton to do there that isn't related to the strip. You know your child better than us. But if you keep him off the strip at night, I don't see why he wouldn't love it.

My son's first vacation was Vegas at 4 months.

Any of those are fine.

Venetian/Palazzo are probably the nicest/quietest. We’re looking very closely at Palazzo when we go in September.

Time for our trip report:

1) We had a fine time. My kid being on the spectrum wasn't really an issue other than one night when some dude was raging angrily down the sidewalk and my son stared at him and the guy yelled at my son for staring at him. It was defused easily.

2) We stayed at the Wyn Encore. It was nice. The smoking definitely bothered us. We visited the MGM Park to check out Eataly, and I would definitely stay there if we were to go back. The lack of smoke in the casino/lobby areas was wonderful. The MGM also seemed to have more teenagers, probably for sports/dance tournaments at the nearby convention center.

3) Went out and hiked Red Rocks. That was fun.

4) Went to the Neon Graveyard, which was cool. Went to the Fremont Street Experience that night, which was insane (in a mostly good way).

5) Went to Seven Magic Mountains, which was okay. There was a Baja style truck race going on right behind it, which was really cool. I saw a truck roll and lose its tire.

6) Went to the Beatles Cirque (Love). It was great.

7) Did the Venetian area a couple of times just to get out and walk. That was fun.

Overall, we had a good time (my family always has a good time when we travel). None of us have much of a desire to go back, but we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite place to eat was Urth Cafe, which was in the Wyn. Evidently it's a California chain. I wish we would have gone and eaten at the food court in the Cosmopolitan, as that looked like some of the better food... but we just kind of ran out of time.
