Taking my 3 year old son who is obsessed with whales and all things sea animals to th atlanta aquarium in 2 weeks. He is very excited. Any tips on tickets discounts, time to go...etc.

Any cool things nearby worth checking out like the coke factory or the childrens museum,

We are staying across the street at the hyatt so should be easy getting there, although they charge $60 a night to park which is hwy robbery.

It is very loud. If you or your kid have sensory issues, they offer free noise-cancelling headphones at the docent desk.

World of Coca Cola is pretty awesome. Took my kids there when they were little and they loved it.

If you can get there right when it opens, the first hour is sensory friendly. It's not as crowded and loud. (at least that's how it was when we visited last year). It's incredible!!!

Do the behind the scenes tour. It’s a small group tour. My kids loved it.

That's true. Once the school groups show up, yer fricked.

It is an amazing aquarium, though, and I dig it every time I go.

The Center for Puppetry Arts is relatively close. I enjoyed it very much, but I’m definitely a kid at heart.

I was going to recommend that as well. Great for kids.

How long will you be there? Just one day?

Check what time the dolphin show will be. It’s definitely worth making sure you catch that. Other than that, it’s just a great aquarium. Takes about 2-3 hours to do it all.

It’s been awhile since I did the coke museum. I’m not sure if my 4 year old would like it or not.

If he’s a run around kind of kid, as most are, the College Football HOF has an indoor 30 or 40 yard field with stuff to do that would entertain him.

We’re going to be in Atlanta later this weekend and if we do something interesting, I’ll report back to this thread for you.

Check out CityPass. A lot of times if you are doing more than one thing you end up saving some money with it.

Aquarium, World of Coke and College Football HoF are all right in the same area. Zoo and Fernbank are both nice and fairly close by if you will have a car, but if you only have a day and a half probably best to stay all in the same area.

+1 on the CityPass if you want to do multiple museums. We went over Memorial Day weekend and went to the College FB HOF, Coke, and Aquarium. Maybe because it was the Sunday of a holiday weekend, but we did not enjoy Coke and the Aquarium. Way too many people. However, the college FB HOF stole the show, even for those in our party who aren't necessarily college fb fans. Not sure how well it would be with a 3yr old though.

Do the behind the scenes tour that allows kids under 7. If you can , get the 10am one and you will see the whale shark feeding. This should be booked in advance.

Dolphin show is fun, but seats are first come first serve and it’s a cluster and takes up a lot of time getting seats. I’d pay the $5 for premium seats and not have to get in line 30+ minutes. Well worth it with little kids as you can walk right up as it starts.

We did the ticket option for the second day free. I have little ones and we did afternoon after naps for day 1 and then day 2 we showed up when they opened and made it through lunch. A lot less pressure to cram in everything before the kids get exhausted with two days.

The freshwater / otter area was under construction when we went. Hopefully that’s done.

Also the food court/restaurant was surprisingly very efficient and quick despite the huge crowds. Pricey though but the beer was welcomed.

We stayed near Georgia Tech and the parking garage at the Aquarium was $20 and our hotel was charging $35/night.

If you’re being literal, World Cup games will be going on. There’s going to be a shite ton additional people in downtown Atlanta and the Aquarium is likely to be jam packed. I would honestly strongly consider rescheduling.
