The New Home Warranty Act requires you to notify the builder via registered or certified mail within one year of the discovery of the defect. I'm assuming you immediately noticed the difference when you purchased the house. If so, you have probably missed your window to remedy the issue.

If you didn't move in until later, then you need to send that notice as soon as possible. You will have to show that the A/C system's defect is due to noncompliance with the building standards. You'll probably need to get a third-party inspector to give you a report on that. Assuming all that happens, you would still have to file suit before the two-year mark of owning the house. The good news is you would be entitled to attorney fees if you win.

My 11 year old has an Apple Watch with cellular. Since he doesn't have an iPhone (and isn't getting one anytime soon), I paired it with my Apple Watch App. He can call, text, and we can track him using "Find My" on our phones. Only thing I can add is to visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in KC. It’s not a large museum so you can probably do it in about an hour. But it has an amazing amount of memorabilia to see.

Have you seen the traffic in Ascension Parish? All of the schools are 30 minutes from any house.

Depending on how much you want to save, you could split the amounts between a 529 and a high-yield savings account.

I deposit a monthly amount into a 529 account for each of my kids. You'd get tax savings on the 529 account and they could roll-over unused portion to an IRA if they don't use it for college.

Then any birthday money, allowance, grade money goes into a high-yield savings account. Plan is just to switch ownership of the account to them at the time it makes sense for either a purchase or just to have in their name.

Anyone here have experience or recommendations for places to stay in upper peninsula Michigan? Our family of four (kids are 9 and 4) will be up that way at end of June and hoping to spend a few days there. Preferably a cabin or resort with lake access.
