I've usually had pretty good luck with VRBO and Airbnb. Try those and you should find something you like

If it’s during the summer you aren’t getting anything reasonable this year.

I just booked a place for the end of June and this the experience I had. Seems almost everything is booked and the places that aren’t booked are way more expensive than normal. Places that would be $200 per night normally are $400-500 per night and that’s all that’s left. I booked a place in gulf shores on Air B&B for $350 a night and it’s not even on the beach. I usually have my stuff planned out and booked early but this summer snuck up on me so I was late to the party.

Rates are up like 40% this year.
No idea why.

Just got to gulf shores today and holy hell is it packed down here. Went to Walmart and they were out of nearly everything so went to Rouse's and it wasn't much better.

But yeah, prices on condos are insane through like mid August. Good luck.

I think the bigger factor is the uncertainty with international travel earlier this year when people were booking their summer vacations, along with some uncertainty in domestic air travel. So people booked vacations that were within driving distance.

Good luck with that. Everything is booked up down there. It’s a mad house right now.

If you can find a condo, drive over to Johnson Beach for fun in the water. You’ll have to pay, but it won’t be super crowded.

rates are up because of availability and hurricane recovery from last year.

Most places we looked at was "possibly" available, but some amenities on property may be out do to repair from hurricane damage...

we pretty much kicked the can and went further east instead of paying the extra this year to stay where we normally stay in the gulf shores-perdido area...

take the year and let them recover...

All of this, plus no cruises are happening until next month and lot's of people using stimulus money to vacations.

I have 2 family members that booked 2 different condos in Gulf Shores in April for the 3rd week in June. Both condos cancelled their reservation saying hurricane repairs were not completed. One cancelled about 6 weeks out and one cancelled this week. My sister lives in Gulf Shores and has realtor friend. She advised some condo owners are cancelling reservations and re-booking at a much higher weekly rate.
