Taking a 3 year old to Disney World?

Y’all think it’s worth the effort to take a 3 year old to Disney World, or perhaps better enjoyed once the kid is a tad older?

I brought my then 3 year old in 2016. She looked at the ground the entire time and picked up trash all day. Too short to see/notice anything going on around her in the crowds, not enough attention span either. 1000x better experience at 5 years old 2 years later.

absolutely not. took my kid when he was 4. scared of most things. just no interest. all he wanted to do was play in the hotel pool. waste of money.

We brought our daughter to DW when she was 3. She had a great time. She was obviously limited on the rides, but we rode very ride she could, although she mostly wanted to meet all the princesses/characters.
Her favorite part was probably the character dinner in the castle.
We rented a BOB stroller and she would take a nap in the stroller everyday while me and the wife would have snack/coffee break.

Took both kids when they were 3. Oldest had a great time and napped a good bit. Gave mom and dad time to see what we wanted to do while he napped.
When I took the youngest at 3 my wife was at a conference in Orlando so it was me, my then 7 year old, and the three year old. Over 4 days and 4 parks getting there before opening and staying until close he probably napped a total of 45 minutes and enjoyed every second of it. I’d take them both at 3 again if I had the chance.

We always said we weren’t changing diapers at Disney world. Been waiting on Covid now, Mine are 9 and 6 and looking at finally taking them

It's all kid specific. A few months ago we were penciling in Disney in January for our three year old. He's a shy/cautious kid that can take a while to warm up to things.
We went to a family entertainment area that has a ton of small kids rides as a test. He failed miserably so we're putting it off. I recommend you doing a similar test before you drop $5k.

There is literally nowhere on the planet that specializes in vacations for families with a 3 year old more than Disney.
Yes, stay on site, take mid day breaks, bring (or rent) a good jogging stroller and let them nap throughout the day and enjoy yourselves.

More expensive unless your 5-7 year old can pass for two years old. Kids under 3 are free. Another thins to consider is at 5-7 most don't want to be in the stroller as much as most 3 year olds will so it makes the mileage much harder to handle if they insist on walking and won't take naps

I took my two year old and three year old in November and they both had a blast. As was mentioned previously, you need to not over-do the day otherwise they will become miserable. Try to plan earlier dinners, because we often had to wait 10-15 minutes just to sit down anyway.

Our first trip was when they were 4 and 6. 6 year old could ride almost everything, 4 year old was about an inch or two too short. Went again at 6 and 8, second time was much better. First was good though too, just second was much much better.

It's really kid specific. We just got back and my son turned 3 while we were there. He loved seeing the characters even though you couldn't interact with them like you used to be able to.
But to see the pure excitement on his face riding the seven dwarfs mine train and slinky dog dash was something I'll always remember. You'd be surprised at what they can ride that young. Like I said, ours turned 3 on the trip and was just at 38 inches. A lot of the bigger rides are 40 inches, so if yours is closer to 4 or tall for a 3 year old, he may be able to do more than you think.
ETA: I just looked....if your kid is 40 inches they will be able to do every ride except Space Mountain, Rock-n-roller coaster, flight of passage, and everest.

Taking a 7 year old and a 6 month old in March. I think 7 is the perfect age. The 6 month old is free for flight, parks etc. and will sleep the whole time. I’d never bring a 3 year old.
