If that many pilots do end up quitting or getting fired, southwest should know to adjust their schedules based on their available manhours vs what they planned to fly several months earlier. We would see very close in changes, some routes getting cut, others losing frequency. I'd keep the outbound for now but might recommend booking an alternative if flights are cheap. What dates or range to/from MSY?

There's no problems with booking two flights as of current and cancelling the one you don't take for an e-credit the day of the flight. If you've got some $$ to spare and know that you'll fly that airline again, it's a no brainer imo

Right now we're outbound MSY-MCO on Jan 5. Due to return on Jan 11.

Ill be honest too, I really enjoyed flying in and out of Gulfport. From my house it only took like 15 more minutes but I saved that in baggage claim alone and the drive down I-10 to Mandeville is easier than causeay, through metairie/kenner, etc

$194 on AA out of gulfport or $212 on delta. $41 on spirit out of MSY or $73 on Frontier. $194 out of baton rouge on UA, AA, or DL.

$200 on Southwest roundtrip. Also weird the MCO-MSY segment only has 1 flight, kinda surprised by that.

Flying SW early in the morning out of Cincy, anyway to tell if cancelled? Do I just keep checking the App?

Great question. Checking the app is the easiest way. As soon as it's cancelled (if it does get cancelled), immediately rebook or call.

I just went to start looking at what time flights this morning were cancelled. The 7am Orlando to Nola was cancelled at 12:03am, 6am Nola to Orlando cancelled at 12:16am, 5:35am Seattle to Denver cancelled at 1:19am local time.

So it looks like in the middle of the night is when they cancelled last night. Actually, the 7:15am Cincy-Midway cancelled last night at 6:19pm. So either tonight or tomorrow morning

Flightaware often updates before the SW app… I’d track on there.

I know likely too early to know, but what's the thoughts on the duration of this? Have msy to mco in a couple of weeks and debating double booking.

If it’s truly pilots calling in sick in retaliation and burning time prior to the Dec 8Th deadline, I’d bet every weekend will have lots of cancellations.

FYI, SW will delete double bookings. Started doing it about a year and half ago.

Made it through checkin and security. Praying for nothing to happen in the mean time. I'm not a frequent flyer but this feels different. A palpable feeling of knowing its about to go off the rails.

This.

Check a couple sources before leaving. We received ZERO text or email notification for our flight. We were standing at hotel desk checking out. Wife checked to see if late flight etc. saw cancelled. The girl from the Hotel said “Southwest? We think they are striking.”

Cuse, supposed to be leaving for my honeymoon at the end of October on a SWA flight from New Orleans, trying to decide weather or not I need to double book with another airline. What say you?

Don't want you to waste money, but if you'll fly again soon or on another airline often (Delta, United, AA) then I'd probably do it. Make sure they're different airlines, cancel when you know you won't take the flight. Gives you a solid backup in case shite hits the fan. I'm a planner at heart though so always like to be prepared

More of a fyi, but if you want to feel good about your decisions today, the 620pm southwest flight cancelled. The other 2 are still delayed but the line of storms for dallas looks like it's getting nasty

Negative.

Southwest got us on their Tuesday direct flight. Late evening.

Fortunately we are in a good spot cash wise and got upgraded to a great hotel due to ANOTHER issue.

Still ready to be home though. Throwing good money after “meh”.

Yep. After trips I’m READY to be home. I don’t think I’d ever extend a trip.

SW initially said they wouldn’t, so I’m surprised. being based in Tx that they did… But I’d assume like many morons, they took Biden’s threat as fact and jumped

It’s not the company, it’s the pilot group.

This is the beginning, expect other airline pilot groups to do the same.

Boarded and the crew is on the plane. Waiting for the pilot who just landed at another gate.

I think we may be in the clear. I appreciate the help and guidance fellas. Trying to explain why giving my flight information to strangers in the internet is normal. Website continues to amaze me.
