Travelling next weekend and staying on Coronado Island. Hoping to drive up toward Del Mar and Carlsbad and visit some spots off the Pacific.

Also, looking for a spot to watch LSU/Ole Miss on Saturday.

First time in San Diego so want to hit spots that are worth the time.

Have a drink at the Del, a cool historic hotel.

Also if you are into "Sam the Cooking Guy" on Youtube like I am, he has a few restaurants in town like Not Not Tacos in the Italian Market.

Also the train is a really easy and scenic way to get up the coast without traffic. You want to make sure to sit on the left northbound and right southbound or you will be looking at rocks instead of the ocean. Below is a pic I took a few years ago from the train. This is the view for like an hour or two, not just briefly.

Stayed on Coronado at the Del about a month ago, it was great. Unfortunately didn't do much on the island outside of the hotel since it had so much to do.

Outside of rush hour it was very quick to get anywhere in the city from the island.
Go to the zoo if you've never been.
La Jolla is on the way to Carlsbad and offers great views.

Go to the Top Gun bar, better known as Kansas City BBQ. Go early though because the line gets long.

Eat breakfast/brunch at The Henry on Coronado.

Midway battleship is awesome

Top gun bbq is cool just to go and have a beer. My father in law really enjoyed going.

Craft and Commerce is great for happy hour. Great drinks. Little Italy area is near it for some awesome pizza.

George's at the Cove in La Jolla. Good food, cool vibe, great views, and right at the cove with all the sea lions, etc.

Marine Room in La Jolla. Upscale, pretty good food. When the surf's up, it's right at the restaurant windows.

Mr. A's downtown. Upscale, great food. Very cool if you sit out on the patio (it's at the top of one of the high-rises). You'll see the planes on approach to SAN, coming in lower than you're sitting.

There's a fish taco joint in Pacific Beach that was insanely good. Can't remember the name of it, but maybe some locals here can chime in. It's not just one of the thousand in town, it's one of "the" ones to go to.

My girlfriend started her career in hotel sales at The Del. It's an awesome hotel. Got an ocean view suite in one of the new buildings the last time we went back for $100 a night

Downtown Coronado is awesome...lots of places have a great happy hour if you're into that kind of thing. Mix a big cocktail and walk the beach.

For the game, the best scene is going to be across the bridge in the Gaslamp district. Lots of bars to choose from and there will definitely be a place people are gathering to watch it.

Lots of great restaurants to choose from, I'm sure there's a thread on here.

Effing love San Diego, easily my favorite big city.

I agree with all of this. San Diego is by far my favorite "big city".

The Gaslamp district would be an excellent place the watch the game. We were in San Diego last year for the LSU/Alabama game and had not problems finding a place to watch the game. Lots of places to choose from in this area -- all easily walkable too.

Go to Sea World and marvel at the amount of morbidly obese land whale Latinas wearing jorts and showing multi- flab-rolled midriffs. Also enjoy the aquatic whales. Whales whales errywhere.

La Holla is a nice little excursion. And just past it is Torrey Pines. Of course it’s a famous golf course. But there is also a gliderport on the cliffs at the shoreline where you can do a tandem paraglide with a licensed professional. It’s a really cool experience. I would definitely do that again.

Been in Carlsbad all week for work. Definitely a dope spot. Hit up the little Carlsbad strip right off the beach.

Went to La Jolla today and that was really really cool. Highly recommend that.
