Just wondering if the travel gurus have some hidden gems for a 4 or 5 day Bahamas getaway.

We stayed at the Cornerwall House with Squires Estate in Governors Harbour. Very nice place. Even helped us with bringing an air compressor for low tire on the rental van. Eleuthera is not very developed so never had a large crowd and had several beaches all to ourselves. Had a nice restaurant and breakfast place and grocery store within walking distance. Buccaneer Club was very good. Did French Leave beach, Twin Coves beach and did an excursion around Turtle Beach. Disney has recently built a marina on the southern end of the island, but wasn't completed when we went, so not sure how that has affected island. Very laid back trip and never felt unsafe.

I've done harbour island a few times, just got back a week ago.
There is more going on on harbour island than you will probably find on the main Eleuthera island and definitely in the exumas. If thats what you are looking for.
We have always rented airbnb's and been very happy. Stayed at Allamanda house this year which is bigger than you would need. Everything is a quick golf cart ride away. depending on time of the year you go there are some decent bar scenes at Daddy D's, Gusty's, Valentines, Vichum.
Beaches are never crowded. we rent chairs from Teejay's. The hotels all have beach bars you can walk up to and get drinks and lunch (coral sands, pink sands, the dunmore)
Some really good restaurants: Davine, rock house, the dunmore, the landing, etc.

Just about to leave Exhuma Cays in the morning .We were here 3 months ago for a week and came back a week ago. Hideaways is a pretty good place for a family. They have a small pool and Kayaks for use, etc.. Of course, there are plenty of nice homes for rent through VRBO, etc.. just depends on on how much you want to spend on accommodations.
We are in a house called Hummingbird House (Shows as a spot on Google Maps when looking about 5 miles to the west of Georgetown.) Nice sized home sitting up on a ridge with a wrap around porch. We have had view of Masters Harbour and Salt Flats depending on which side of the house you are on.
I would recommend staying with a few miles of Georgetown on either east or west side. You will be on either end numerous times over a few days or week.
Beaches to chill and lay out:
Jolly Hall Beach- my personal favorite. We did this one twice this week.
Tropic of Cancer Beach- almost identical to Jolly Hall but a little bigger crescent.
Hoopers Bay, Pretty Molly, Coco Plum, and a handful more easily assessable beaches. We hardly shared the beach with anyone else. Jolly Hall had two other little groups today spread out 100-200 yds apart.
We did 2 boat ride tours this week. One harbor tour of 5 hours that stays around Greater Exuma and Stocking Island. We went to Chat n Chill on stocking for a few minutes but had our guide take us down a mile or so to a new floating bar for lunch called Twin Connections. Very cool concept and good burgers and hot dogs cooked on a grill.
The other tour was up the western cays to Compass Cay. It was about 76 miles up and back down another 76 round trip. Mainly cruising through the chain of cays and stopping here and there. We stopped at Staniel Cay Yacht Club Club for lunch.
Boating tours, fishing, jet skiing, and hanging out at the beaches is really what you do here .The beaches are so nice and the water so calm and beautiful that you really hate to leave to go clean up for dinner.
I have seen a lot of beaches over my life in various places including Kauai, Maui, etc.. Nothing compares to the playground of water around Exuma Cays. If the bluest beautiful, calm, shallow water is your hope, this is the place.

My family of 5(12,12, and 9 year old) just got back from Exuma on Monday. Rent a car to visit various beaches each day. We chased low tide at spots such as Cocoplum beach. All the beaches mentioned above were also our stops. We rented a boat for 2 days which was my initial draw to this island. Being able to captain and do as I please was exactly what I was after. Don’t miss this if decide on Exuma. It’s tough to beat some of the sights we ran across each day. Very little, if anybody on some of the beaches. I’d look at the Hideaways, Augusta Bay, February Point, Peace and Plenty to name a few.
My wife and I did Eleutheria 2 years ago. We stayed at the Cove which was a spectacular place. The island is extremely quiet with not much to do. We enjoyed it because we were mainly looking to relax. Daily I stumbled upon World class beaches that looked like hadn’t been visited in days.
We visited Harbour island one day and had a great time bar hoping and visiting other hotel properties. You can rent a golf cart to get around.

One of my favorite fishing trips for bonefish in Exuma. Been a long time, and I don't think the place we stayed at is still there or at least they rebuilt it. Peace and Plenty. Food was amazing. If you've never had Conch Chowder, you're in for a treat. If you like fly fishing, I'd suggest renting a guide to fish the flats. When you hook up to one of those bonefish, the rod scream, helluva fight. Especially when the sharks are chasing them.

I appreciate the responses. What did you find to be the best way to get to either place. We can easily fly out or DJT (PBI) FLL or MIA.

If you decide on Eleuthera, which is awesome by the way, I highly suggest Holiday House as far as rentals go. Great, central location and an overall great house. Joy and Dom (hosts) are fantastic.

Check out The Cove in Eleutheria. Been there a few times and highly recommend.
