My doc recommended urea cream. You can get it anywhere. I haven’t tried it yet because I have been busy so I can’t say that it worked for me. Good luck making your feet beautiful again.

re: Japanese knives question.

Head on over the Kappa-Bashi Street. This is an area with lots of kitchen stores. There is a huge statue of a mustached white hatted chef so you will know you are in the right area. You can find anything kitchen related you want plus really top quality sushi knives , santoku knives etc.

I actually returned with a knife made by a man who runs a hardware store in Fujinomiya. He has been at it for years and makes and repairs farm tools, makes his own knives and is an expert sharpener. People bring their knives to him from all around. I already had a large santoku knife but so I pickup a smaller one. It might not be as pretty as some (he has some really impressive options) but it gets super sharp and has a super comfortable handle. I was really impressed how important quality was when shopping in Japan. They take it very seriously.

The Japanese steel is different and will discolor/ rust more easily so he recommended washing it right away and never leave it we. But the trade off is you can get a really sharp edge.
My son had similar symptoms when he was younger but has "grown out of them". I got the run around from doctors as far as diagnosis but was able to get him speech therapy and aba therapy. It helped him a small bit but he still couldn't (or wouldn't) speak. I was advised by another parent to read a book called Healing the New Childhood Epidemics and there is a tiny section that mentions food additives. This led me to read a book called Fed Up

We discovered that certain food additives were causing very specific and weird behaviors. I removed them immediately and the behaviors vanished. I have had doctors argue with me that I am wrong and food has nothing to do with behavior. So I tested it after one of these appointments and shortly after eating the problematic food he displayed the behavior. He hadn't displayed the behavior at all for a month since I removed the foods.

This then led us to explore the gluten free diet which didn't work completely for his G.I. issues so we took it a step further and tried a diet called "The Specific Carbohydrate Diet" which was a game changer. Solid stools for the first time in years. There are some really good resources out there to walk you through it but it is still a huge commitment. I went on the diet with him just to help him not feel left out. Even with all the extra work, if it meant my son could lead a mostly normal life it was worth all the extra effort. He followed the diet religiously for over5 years until middle school. He then would cheat a little vbit at events and slowly moved back to eating regular foods. He still doesn't like fast foods (he feels terrible) and can't eat a lot of dairy but has a pretty normal (if not healthier than most).

We also saw Stephanie Cave and did everything she recommended but it wasn't until we started the diet that we really started to see significant improvement. My son has graduated from high school and is in a 2 year college. He has severe ADHD which he controls we meds but other than that he is doing great.

Rishi tea has some really good loose teas. They give a lot of info about where each variety is grown and what it tastes like. The wild black thai for breakfast is my favorite but I try to mix things up. Their green teas are excellent but some are really expensive. My favorite is the kukicha from Japan. I also like the bancha as a more affordable but still decent green. They often send free samples in shipments but you can also by many of the teas in a sample size pretty cheap.

The Pentagon Wars

I stumbled upon this movie recently and was surprised I had never heard of it. It is surprisingly good and based on true events. It’s hilarious and sad all at once. It tells the story of the The Bradley Tank and what a clusterfrick it became. They spent an absurd amount of money producing something completely useless over 30 years. The military at it’s finest!

re: Spotify help please?

Check to see if the songs are in a queue. This happened to us a few years back and it turns out that certain songs were in the queue and spotify automatically was going back and only playing these these songs no matter what.. Cleared the queue and it fixed the issue.
Skip the dried sage. It can be very bitter depending on how long it has been sitting on the shelf. I ruined a gumbo this way. Sub a little marjoram if you have it.

I would also skip olive oil and use butter or bacon fat. A little bit of good vinegar added in works nicely and gives it a traditional flavor that you can only get from pickled pork.
It seems Nola cuisine is no more. The way back machine has helped me find recipes that I never printed or lost. I loved this website and have used it countless times over the past 20 or so years.

The red beans with tasso recipe is the best and I almost aways make them this way now and get loads of compliments.

What farmers market do you get them? I am always in the lookout for duck egg sources. We are in BR but will travel to get them.

re: Best stain remover for clothes.

Do yourself a favor and buy some tide. Anytime you get anything that might stain on your clothes, just put tide directly in it. Wait, wash it right away, it doesn’t matter, it will probably come out. Says it right on the package. Everything but grease. For grease use some brake parts cleaner. You will never stain anything again. You’re welcome.

Big Fig for the win! Ignore all the fatties in the pictures or enjoy a laugh. If you want a firm mattress that won’t wear out or sag this one is great. I’m not a fattie (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), just to be clear, but needed a very firm mattress for my back. I’ve tried several others including memory foam (these are the worst imo) and I figured if it could handle the land whales then I would give it a try. I did end up adding a foam topper because it really was super firm. Had it for 5 years and really happy with my purchase.
