Aside from the obvious, 911 museum, Statue of Liberty, etc. any advice on a couple things.

The bus tours. Any that you’d recommend? Seems like a ton of options. Would like the hop on hop off type set up.

Also, do you have to buy tickets for musicals ahead of time? Thinking the Michael Jackson show so wondering if dis counts tickets would be available day of show. Any suggestions appreciated.

When are you going? Is it just you? You and SO? You and family? How old are those going?

Other things: MOMA, Central Park, The High Line, Top of The Rock, Chelsea Market...tons of things to do.

Would never do a bus tour - gross.

I would get tix ahead of time so you know you have them.

We did the Big Bus Tour one day in June and highly recommend it if the route works for what you want to see. Buses run constantly and had no issues ever getting one.

MET but focus your visit on what you like. Egyptian, Impressionists and sculpture would be my focus. DON”T try to see the whole place.

Central Park fountain and fields.

Museum of Natural History.

Walks Chelsea or SoHo. Walk part of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Great views, boat ride and you get to New Jersey out there.

Hockey Game for the experience of the game, and MSG. I’d avoid bus tours, but the bus system can be VERY useful to get around. I prefer it over the subway many times.

Pick a long running/classic Broadway show. My folks weren’t impressed with Hadestown when they went.

You can possibly get discounted tickets same day, but if it's a show you really want to go see, it's just as possible that it will be sold out. Plus, don't do same day if you care where you sit.

IMO, same day tickets are for if you've already seen the one you want and you want to try another one at a great deal. Or, it's rainy day, you're tired of sightseeing, etc.
