i'm looking at renting a house for the Sugar Bowl. It is located on St. Roch Ave in Gentilly Terrace. Was initially told this is a bad area, and that it buts up to some really bad areas. Looking on google maps it doesn't look to bad....Is it a safe area?

Make sure you do your Hoddy Toddy thing all night long.
Colonel Rebel will go over there well too.

There's a renovated house on Louisiana Ave behind Jazz Daiquiri's and across the street from the former Magnolia/C.J. Peete Housing Project.
It's newly renovated, and must photograph well for the Airbnb ad's, because every Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, bowl game, etc, I see out of towners tricked into staying there who had no idea they were going to be staying in that kind of neighborhood.
Make sure you don't rent that one.

Find something uptown south of St Charles. Algiers Point is another good neighborhood (north of Opelousas). You’ll need a car.

I would not suggest renting a house there. Also, you will be pretty far away from the action. Find something uptown or in midcity.

Do you and your co-travelers plan on bringing Kevlar vests? Are you okay with your vehicles being burglarized overnight? Are you okay with the staccato of gunfire waking you up at 3 a.m.? If your answer to these questions is "Yes" then this might be the spot for you.

As others said, check out warehouse district or Mid-City. If you go warehouse district you'll have good food & bar selections, and will be a few blocks away from the dome. Get their during the day, and you can follow the crowd down Poydras to the more populated areas (Lucy's, Barcadia, Mannings...)

It's not that bad. Don't be alarmed by the NOLA haters on here. It's only a few blocks behind Brother Martin HS. But I do agree it out of the action a bit.

Found a place in Broadmoor area, looks good...Issue is size of our group could be 9-11...I canceled the one I initially asked about...it's a racket between minimum days and overnight costs..great places nearby good areas but 4 day minimum that cost 6-7k

New Orleans is one of the places that I would recommend staying in a hotel rather than an AirBnB, unless you are very familiar with the city.
I would recommend staying in the Warehouse District.
