Traveling to NO in May with a few couples. We are obviously staying away from Bourbon and not a huge fan of Frenchman St. What are some other bars that would be a good time?

Bacchanal
Bayou Beer Garden/Bayou Wine Garden
Wrong Iron
Magazine Street stretch that includes Tracey's, Bulldog, etc
Pluck Wine Bar
All would be excellent options with a more local atmosphere, and most with excellent outdoor areas.
Bayou and Wrong Iron will usually have crawfish on weekends too.

Brand new place. Really more of a restaurant than "bar".
I greatly enjoyed it. Nice little spot, stylish.
The wine list is very very well thought out, and the prices are extremely reasonable.
The food is all small portions to pair with wine, and everything we had was delicious.
The staff was very approachable and knowledgable, owner came to talk to us and was nice as can be.

Bouligny is great! Love going there. Not sure why it didn't pop in my head.
Right next door is Lilette, which is owned by the same people and share a kitchen. Lilette to me is one of the better restaurants in the city
