I can't wait to read your long drawn out whining and complaining about this trip to NOLA. We all know it's coming and what the content will be well beforehand.
My advice? Just punt and go to Vicksburg or some shite.

It will probably sound like this

down in the quarter last night. We are very reasonable people and love NoLa. it is infested with hood rats. Worst than ever and we grew up near NoLa and visit fairly regularly. Extremely unnerving experience. On top, not shockingly, the NOPD are in rare dickhead form. I mean baaaaddddd. Folks, I love the city. Always have. It’s turned south in an alarming way. Sadly, we are done visiting until something truly happens.

The rate of random victimization is less in NOLA than it is in NY.

Absolutely not Slidell. If you do not want to stay in Nola, stay in Metairie.
I’m having her check here now. Thanks.

A cursory glance at the Google machine says otherwise.
I knew he was lying. It’s all he knows how to do. It’s in his nature.

My mom and sister spent the weekend in a Metairie hotel. They are alive and well. However they only went to the city briefly.
FYI - I have never had to pull out my gun in NOLA. Not saying you won’t have to - but I’ve been many times since 2017.

I might be New Orleans’ #1 fan, but even I can see the effects of anti-policing attitudes on the city. And unfortunately it is exasperated by the lack of tourists. All the lowlifes were probably always there, but they were drowned out by tens of thousands of tourists on a daily basis. Gave the city the appearance of safety, at least.
But our current mayor is a product of California. And all of her policies are born of that leftist ideology. It trickles down to everything.
New Orleans needs a very proactive police force to be a safe city. In today’s political climate, that will not exist.
All that said, the city has a ton to offer. One of the best places to visit in America, if you are somewhat smart about it, and venture into areas other than certain parts I’m sure you’ll hear about in this thread. Like anything, you have those who focus on the positive in life, and those who are generally miserable and try to focus on that aspect of New Orleans that fits their life outlook. It is pretty pitiful. Your family will have a great time in New Orleans. Just go and enjoy it.

Have a wonderful trip. I can't wait to hear tales of rude beggars, a blue haired waitress who was so rude to you, a tranny trying to preach to you and maybe even human defecation right out on the street.
Y'all be safe.

Unlike most of the other posters, I don’t think you’ll have any issues based on those things that you and your family want to do. I was down there not too long ago, went for a run from the VA Hospital, down Canal, along the Riverfront, down Decatur before stopping at the French Market. Ran from the French Market through the FQ to Bourbon back to Canal returning to the VA Hospital. Never once did I feel uneasy or unsafe. Had no issues. You just have to be smart and avoid being out late at night as some have said. I wouldn’t stay in Slidell as you could find something better in Metairie. Just my two cents.

The CBD is full of families this weekend. Stay in the Warehouse District/CBD if you don't want to deal with the FQ riff raff.
I've lived downtown for over 10 years and never been a crime victim. I walk to the store. I run downtown and uptown. My husband and I walk to restaurants and bars. I'm not going to pretend there aren't problems, but it's not a free for all war zone that people try to make it out to be.

I grew up there, it isn't the same place, thugs are in charge. Stay in crowds, avoid being out at night. Enjoy yourself.

get your shots first. there is a nice Hampton inn at the I10 exit to I55 about 500 yards to the river. Not expensive and about 25 minutes to the French quarter. A plus , there is a great local restaurant across the street and about a mile towards the river. Pier 41, maybe 51.
you will find it under a La Place town location

Daytime is fine....
You can do a Katrina your where they take you to different areas and they talk about how Katrina impacted the area and wildlife. Even as a local to La that was pretty cool.
Voodoo tours are pretty cool as well and kids either love them or get scared. Walk down Frenchman and listen to some music after going shopping at the flea market.

Geez Darth. That's the dumbest thing you have ever typed on here.

If you’re bringing your family to nola for a weekend why not stay at a hotel like the Windsor Court, Montleone, Lowe’s, Harrahs, Ritz. Why stay at a roach motel in Slidell?

Stay at Higgins Hotel next to WW2 museum. That area is safe.
