Not overrated at all. We find more to do every time we visit. Great mountain biking. World class rock climbing. Skiing at Lee Canyon 45 minutes away. Miles of trail running. End each day with a fantastic restaurant and reasonably priced accommodations.

I don’t know anyone who considers these “Las Vegas” activities. See an earlier post.

Both scenarios sound terrible to me. I have not been and don’t plan to.

Absolutely worth a visit! If the gambling & shows has you down, take a ride to Spring Mountain Motorsports in Pahrump, & go drive cars very fast on their track. Or find any one of several ranges & shoot machine guns on FULL AUTO!

Depends on what you are going for. If you don’t have a plan, it can get overwhelming and suck. Plan appropriately.

Strip hotels are all corporate now.

The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checking into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with $4 million in a suitcase, and some 25-year-old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds.

Need to go just once just to experience it.

But it’s HIGHLY overrated.

Great for a show and/fun fun weekend with friends. I used to like gambling and playing blackjack, but the casino comps these days absolutely suck, they do not comp really anyone playing table games since they want you to play slot machines.

Its great---if you go with people who belong to the highest levels. My wife and her cousin are both Seven Stars members at Caesars. So when we all go, we get picked up at the airport in an Escalade, get comped free meals at Nobu and Peter Lugers and wherever else, and a bunch of free drinks at the cigar lounge and other bars.

If either of them has an issue, they just call their host and it gets fixed immediately.

Was there for New Year's and will be going back in two months.

Depends what you want I guess. Great places to stay with nice amenities. Yes, those places are expensive. Great shows, great restaurants. Again expensive. Underrated outdoor stuff like Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Valley of Fire State Park. Pro sports, concerts, etc. I don't gamble much at all, and I still like going out there.

Las Vegas: Overrated?

I have been many times and love it. Only issue is I have seen all the popular shows, dined at most of the best steakhouses, and done everything in the surrounding area like Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, etc. There’s just not really any new ground to cover unless I win the lottery and can afford penthouses and shite.

I went in October for the first time in a while to check out of a show at Sphere (which was not around the last time I was on a bonafide Vegas trip instead of just flying in to rent a car and go elsewhere) and also saw Awakening at the Wynn.

I’m sure I will go back sometime but probably not in the near future.

Theres a thread about 5 down from this discussing this exact topic... Overall, the consensus is yes, Vegas is overrated at this point and way too expensive for the common man.

Vegas is more expensive and a lot trashier post-Covid. Its a paradox how both are true, but they are.
