Yes it’s absolutely worth it. You don’t have to break the bank. For $10, you can get Hallal food from a street vendor, some of the best food in the city. Subway rides are $2.90. And don’t linger in Times Square or Rock Ctr, there’s so many great neighborhoods to explore. Also, check out the high line. Used to be a hidden gem, but it’s crazy packed now but still really cool.

If you've never been, you should go.

If price is a factor...it won't get any cheaper in the future.

Might as well go before you can't afford to

Food isn't that much more expensive, but drinking is for sure.

That aside, just in Manhattan alone you can find amazing food around almost every corner for under $15/meal. Starting with a bagel and lox in the morning, and ending the day with noodles from a storefront diner in Chinatown plus whatever you do in between is a phenomenal food day that can only be replicated in a few places on this planet.

And for $30-$40 entrees (a few bucks more than what you pay at Parrains BR these days and I love Parrains), you can eat one of the best meals of your life at hundreds of different restaurants just in Manhattan. The challenge with NYC is there are so many options it can be hard to make a decision.

I think it’s worth it. NYC is my favorite city to visit.

Love everything about it. Love the museums, love being able to eat literally any type of food you could possibly want, love Broadway shows, even love just the problem solving of which subways to take and how to navigate from place to place.

I’ve actually always found NYC hotels to be pretty affordable, at least in terms of “luxury hotels.”

And as people have said you can spend a fortune eating in NYC, but you can also eat really well for under $30. NYC does quick, casual and good dinning better than any city.

My only recommendation is go any time other than the summer. Summer NYC is hot, crowded and smells of urine and dumpsters.

A few years ago, I popped into a little Pakistani hole-in-the-wall in Manhattan called Haandi and got a really good lunch for like $7. It's probably $10 now.

As others have said, there's a food court in Koreatown where you can get some great Korean food for cheap.

And, yeah, New York pizza is awesome and cheap.

The point is that you can have some fun food experiences without breaking the bank.

If you’re not willing to do a little research to figure out that there are tons of affordable food options in NYC, then maybe it’s not for you.

We didn’t pay a ton at all. Clean Hilton hotel near Times Square so that we were super close walking to playhouses. Went to a play each night (four) and ate breakfast at hotel, lunch in local spots/delis and nice dinners just wherever we saw. We’re not real foodies so we chose based on what was nearby. Great Italian places.

The best gyro I've ever had in my life was from a street cart in NYC.

Food Gallery 32. We stopped in there the other day but didn't eat. We went to Baekjeong, as usual.

Yes. Have you been to one of earth’s epic cities for a vacation? Paris, London, Tokyo, NYC, etc.? I ask bc they are ALL expensive…and they are all worth it.

I was in Tokyo this past summer and it way less expensive than NYC. I’m always surprised by how expensive Miami is compared to NYC. NYC is still my favorite city in the world and it’s worth the cost to experience a some of its offerings.

Tokyo is similar to NYC in that you can do it cheap if you wanted. But why? Both have amazing cheap street food and affordable lodging. Both also offer the high end.

Jersey City is a pretty nice city and cheap to stay in. But NYC has way more to offer in terms of tourism which is why it’s super expensive all year round.

In the 60s and 70s, real estate companies from NYC bought real estate in Miami and marketed it to Wall Street workers as the ultimate vacation city. As a result, a shite ton of white collar retirees from NYC moved there and basically turned it into a tropical version of NYC.

Corporate hotels like Hilton and Marriott are the best way to go if you want to visit NYC on a budget

I’ve been during November, December, and April. Christmas time in NYC is absolutely magical, but prices are ridiculous. Spring is also nice and prices are a bit more reasonable.

I went a couple of years ago and stayed at the park Central hotel. between times square and central park. Rooms were very reasonable and nice and felt like we were close to everything.
