Not right now especially if you’re unfamiliar with the good and bad areas. A lot of things are closed. The atmosphere is flat. And crime is out of control. Carjackings and robberies are up sometimes as much as triple digit percentage points.
Will something happen to you? Probably not but basically now is as bad a time to be in New Orleans basically since Katrina.

Right now with all the covid restrictions and no events or festivals? frick no.
Still have all of the murder/robbery risk without any of the city's somewhat redeeming qualities.

If the weather is nice you can have a great time.
Not sure what you are looking to do though.

It's fine. Go. hotels are reasonable, most restaurants are open on weekend and not as many douche tourists.

Morgan City. We're undecided between the two.
Looks like it’s Morgan City for you two. Call the Holiday Inn soon. They book up quick.

World War II museum
Sculpture Garden in City Park, followed by a romantic swan paddle boat ride in the lake
Po-Boys at Parkway Bakery
Preservation Jazz Hall
Drinks at the Carousel Bar
Michaeloupolous Art Shop
Sunday brunch at Commander’s Palace after attending Mass at Holy Name of Jesus
That’s a good weekend.

Right now, no. After COVID, sure.
Meh. Even now most restaurants are open and a good bit of entertainment options.
I’d be down for a good meal, and a show at the broadside for a birthday weekend.

Are you planning on it being your last birthday?

Go for it. Plenty of great restaurants are open and if the weather is nice the outdoor bar places are still fun

People come to eat & drink, and you can do exactly that right now

It will be better after Covid. Why not wait till then?

Yes. All of the classic restaurants (and most bars) are open and a good time on the weekend.
