Hey Cuse, sorry I'm sure you've answered this.

A friend is flying to Denver from Houston Thursday on Southwest. What are her chances? What's your gut?

I'm starting to feel less nervous about my flight to Denver out of NOLA Thursday as the hurricane seems to go more northeast.

What time do you need to be back by? The only way you can even get to Baton Rouge on United is by flying through IAH. If you don't mind flying into MSY on Sunday, you have many more options that I will post below. If you absolutely have to fly into BTR, I can help you figure things out further.

UA 929 LHR 7:50 AM ORD 10:30 AM
UA 1705 ORD 12:35 PM MSY 2:59 PM

UA 883 LHR 8:40 AM EWR 11:35 AM
UA 1563 EWR 2:30 PM MSY 4:39 PM

UA 919 LHR 12:00 PM IAD 3:10 PM
UA 495 IAD 5:19 PM MSY 6:54 PM

The morning flight to Chicago is not very full at all, however I don't know how early you feel like waking up...

It's a longer time commitment to fly than drive...

This all depends on how much rain the houston area gets. Southwest will likely cancel a bunch of their flights in and out of HOU over the next several days. As long as the storm is moved out of the area (which looks to be next wed or thurs) then they'll start operating at a full schedule again

Your inbound DAL-BHM is estimated to leave 10 minutes late and I'm not really sure why. Could be a crew issue, but the flight before that got in on time so kind of curious. In any case your DAL-MSY flight will likely be delayed a bit if I had to guess. Currently that plane is 20 minutes late out of HOU to DAL, then it still has to go up and back to Amarillo which has some thunderstorms by the airport. You'll make it back tonight

Update: American has posted their waiver through Tuesday.

Saw this and called American to cancel my flight, because I can't re-book. They said they can't do that and give me a refund, they are ONLY re-booking at this point.
So they advised me to wait until Monday and see if they actually cancel the flight, because then I can get a refund.

Did you end up rebooking for a few days later? I'd much rather be in hawaii than this hot and humid weather...

Hey Cuse, sorry just seeing this... so we've been holding steady but going to get on the phone with United in the morning first thing to discuss contingencies. We actually connect through LAX, so staying in LA may be the most likely option. It would be tough to swing staying on the islands this late notice.

You can ask them to connect wherever you want essentially or ask to get on the nonstop to IAH. Do you prefer Denver, LA, San Fran, Chicago, Newark, or DC? United flies to all of those places from Hawaii so if you want to connect and stay in any of those cities with family/friends they are usually accomodating during situations like this. If you need help looking at inventory to feed flight numbers to an agent, just let me know

Hey! So at this point should she just wait and see about rebooking anything? For all we know, her flight is still happening right?

The only worry i would have for thursday at this point is any flooding that would happen near the hobby airport. The hurricane "cone" on the first page looks like the storm will be north and west of houston on thursday. Thursday or friday should be ok to fly

The waiver is basically up just as a precaution. Have your friend keep and eye on the weather and if something comes up we can help her get rebooked

Okay, awesome. I know I've said it a thousand times, but thank you!! I'll check in as the week progresses and make sure she keeps an eye on things.
