The wife and I are flying down next weekend to explore the area for a possible move next year, when we retire. We're staying at Harrahs in Biloxi and will have a rental to drive around. We've never been there before so any suggestions on bars, restaurants and any other places to visit would be appreciated.

I heard it's fun to take a boat ride out to Horn Island.

Good food, dive bars, live music, shooting pool and being in or on the water.

Thanks for all the responses so far. This is a last minute trip because our original retirement plans have suddenly changed this week but I'll try to check into these places as much as I can

Any food and music in particular?

Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero blues club is in downtown Biloxi, right across from the Hard Rock.

You can pretty much pull off any where you want from Biloxi through Bay St. Louis off Hwy 90 if you want to hit the beach. It gets less populated the farther west you go. Getting in the water isn't really suggested.

Do yourself a favor and eat at Italy Terrace at the Gulf Hills Golf Club in Ocean Springs.

Staying in Biloxi, just hop across the bridge and check out Ocean Springs. Very vibrant downtown.

Ocean Springs is awesome. Nice little town with an outdoor market sort of thing most weekends. We’ve been during an art festival they had there and it was great. Just blocks of tents with art and neat shite.

There’s an absolutely terrible golf course in Gulfport that I would recommend skipping. Can’t remember exactly but I think it was Gulf Hills Golf Club. It was trash.

Yes, we love blues, rock and country. Care to elaborate on your suggestion about the water? We want to be by the ocean and plan on buying a boat if we move there
