Brown, shallow, crappy water. Try NW FL or extreme SE AL coast

Yes, we love blues, rock and country.

Then doubling down on Ground Zero. Also good blues to found at the two Muddy Waters BBQ locations. You won't find much in the way of country, though, except for J & T's Stagecoach in Ocean Springs.

Care to elaborate on your suggestion about the water?

Generally speaking, it's just not very nice water. Brown. Hot. And fairly shallow way out. Beaches are nice enough. Plenty of options with boating and being on top of the water. Since the Sound is an enclosed waterway, do pay attention to the local water advisories regarding bacteria, which is nothing to fool around with if you have a compromised immune system or open wounds.

I have relatives there, some have left, some are planning on leaving. None seem to want to retire there. We briefly considered it and didn't.

Its kinda weird bevause ive seen and read reports where the MS gulf coast is the sort of new wintering hole for retirees. I think having the VA and bases help with that plus warm weather and lax retirement taxes for seniors in MS.

Eat there quit often. They have the best hamburger and steak sandwich on the MS Gulf Coast.

Bring cash!
