Yeah, it sounds that way.
I appreciate everyone's input and the pics from BRich. I'm looking forward to this trip and def will be hitting as many places as time will allow but don't really think a relo there will be happening. Prob going back to plan A which is Panama

You could try Coterie. Not Cajun per se. I’ve been once and had chicken and sausage gumbo and debris poboy. Both good.

If you have a boat you are good. Horn and Ship Island (Barrier Islands) are fantastic.

Panama City in Florida or Panama City, Panama? I go down there quite often, going back in 2 weeks. You definitely could relax in retirement there if you get out of the city a little bit

If you plan on going into the water, swimming, you need to head east to Florida. MS coast water has been tested and not safe to swim. AL too close so move on over to Florida.

Most likely Punta Chame, Panama. Sleepy little fishing village on the tip of a peninsula that points towards PC about 1.5 hours drive. Surrounded by beaches, very reasonably priced homes. Where do you usually go when you go down there? We're planning another trip back.
We really liked the Biloxi, GP, Ocean Springs area but the water is almost a deal breaker. Everything else, including the people are perfect. Everybody we talked to was very friendly and our kind of people that we're used to here in OK, wore my OU sunglasses and almost always someone was ready to talk football. Gulf Shores Al. seems nice in pics. Orange Beach looks like "real ocean also but we didn't make it over there.

Lots of good suggestions especially Ocean Springs and Walter Anderson Museum. But it's a vacation home rather than permanent-residence area.
If you are planning to live in a gated enclave you might enjoy your neighbors. Otherwise expect to be meeting characters out of Grisham novels. Casino workers are pretty transient. Hurricanes, evacuations, damage, insurance, etc. are things you do not need in retirement. At least look for places inland enough to be 30' above sea level. Hattiesburg is worth a look.
Fort Walton Fl offers a better retirement situation. Niceville is high enough to provide some safety.

I stay in PC because of work, but I keep telling myself I’ll get out the city to explore more. People are friendly and the country has some of the best fishing on the planet. Tropic Star Lodge has more world records than anyplace on earth I believe.
