Global Entry timeline UPDATE: Conditional Approval
Posted on 2/2/19 at 7:47 am

I applied for Global Entry on 1/18/19and curious the timeline. The website is vague on how long it takes for them to approve so that I can schedule an interview. It just mentions that many circumstances play into the decision and it could be weeks or months. Sure the government shut down didn't help either, but any chance this gets approved before March?
For those of you that have global entry how long did it take for approval and then after your interview how long did it take for your ID?

I applied last year and had it all ready to go in two weeks. Just checked my TSA emails and saw where I applied online on 5/25/18 and final approval was completed 6/6/18. Got lucky with scheduling the date and location of the in-person meeting (meeting was a week & a half after applying and a ten minute drive to GPT ). I’m pretty sure that once you meet in person for the digital fingerprinting & photo, you’re good to go when you leave the office (you have a temp card with the number you’ll need). The official id card arrived in the mail a week later. Hope your process goes this quickly.

Yeah, I know after reading that once you go to the interview you can be approved quickly. Just curious the length from the application to approval so I can schedule an interview

My application to approval (before scheduling the meeting) was 4 days later. Applied on 5/25/18 & received status change on 5/29/18. Sorry I left that out. Like you said, hopefully the shutdown doesn’t stretch it out too long.

Yeah, I'm at a couple of weeks now, I thought since I'm a state worker it would be quick. Hoping some time this month really. Glad to see it isn't the 3-5 month horror stories I've read

When I did this a couple years ago, it was 3 weeks from initial application to getting the interview scheduled. I’d imagine that the shutdown will extend things a bit, but overall demand is probably the biggest wildcard. Hopefully you’re ahead of the “summer traveler” rush.

I’m betting the shutdown created a backlog

I applied for myself and my wife on 1/27/19 and got the conditional approval on 2/1/19. Trying to get this done before an international trip next month, so we are having to fly from Atlanta to Chicago this week to complete the interview.
Like you, I was seeing a 4-5 week turnaround so I was pleasantly suprised to see that quick turn.
Also, I kept checking the website. There were no email updates.

I did my interview when returning from an international trip. Got off the plane, went into the global entdy line, showed them I was in the conditional approval stage, and knocked it out in 5-10 minutes.
Don't know timing, but it's pretty convenient if they still allow that.

FIL and MIL applied during the shut down....logged on yesterday and both had been approved. Appointment scheduled at MSY in march.

Damn, I just went to look and it says "pending review" still. I was hoping it would be changed.

Would love to interview soon so I can take a trip for Mardi Gras

I read through the webpage and I'm not clear if kids 12 and under traveling with parents need to be entered in Global Entry. It's clear they do not for TSA domestic, but I'm not sure about Global Entry. Anyone know for sure?

When I did it last year it took a few weeks (I was getting a little anxious about it like you), but after the intial approval, it was very quick.

A week for conditional approval, interview a month later. No biggie.

I thought since I'm a state “worker” it would be quick.
Good luck on your processing, used mine last night at MSY and it was nice. Left my shoes, belt, and sport coat on and put my phone in a bowl.
Easy-peasy.

You know that you will still be able to take your trip without GE?

It took me nearly a month to get conditional approval on a renewal last August, and scheduling the interview wasn't easy either. It wasn't that difficult when I first applied 5 years ago.
