Hello all, was thinking about signing up for global entry. What all is involved with signing up? I have heard you have to interview at an airport.

I also heard that you can do it upon re-entering the U.S. That sounds bad logistically for most airports, but may be fine.

Also, if you are cleared for global entry I am assuming it includes TSA pre check?

I don't plan on leaving the country again for another year or so, but I am done standing in that customs line.

It does include TSA pre-check
Interviews are at designated airports, last about 10 minutes and there are no hard questions.
It is worth it. We breezed thru upon arrival in AUS from LHR

The interview process is as painless as it could be. Well worth it and like the previous poster said it, it includes TSA pre check.

I can't recommend it enough. When we came back to DFW Airport from Mexico this summer we went to the Global Entry area & stood there & had a picture taken of our face & we were done. We didn't have our carry on bags looked at in any way & we had no contact with any airport employees on the way out the door of the airport. I couldn't believe it.

Interview is basically a background check. If you have any arrests on your record, they'll ask about it. Other than that, it is just basic questions and the entire thing lasts only a few minutes like previously mentioned.

Worth every penny, you get precheck as well. Like other have said, interview is painless and takes 5-10 minutes. Last time coming back through DFW it took me less than 3 minutes to clear customs.

I don't have Global Entry but do have Mobile Passport. It's pretty good.

I put in for mine a little over 1 month ago and haven’t heard back yet. Any idea how long the process (normally) takes? I would like to have it before flying to Washington state in December. Thanks

When I did mine you had to do the interview when you returned to an international airport in the U.S. from an international trip. That was the hardest part but The interview was easy. It lasted 15 minutes and we talked mostly about LSU football.

We got ours pre-COVID-19 so the time may be off. Mine came back in about 3 weeks but my wife’s (no pics) took almost 2 months. We had ours prior to taking the trip.

I keep looking for appointments at IAH even inside terminal E but there are never any appointments. I don't have any international travel booked anytime soon but a ton of domestic. May need to look at a different place.

Interview takes five minutes. You have to go to an office (they had one at MSY). You get precheck

It is very worth it, between tsa precheck and flying through customs. Check your credit cards if you haven’t already, many travel cards will reimburse you for global entry. I got mine pre-Covid and the wait was very long to get an interview. I checked once a week for cancellations and ended up getting in early.
