Amateur gamblers asking. I have spent at least 30 minutes trying to find a pattern in reviews and the reviews are all over the place for the Harrah's in Nola.

Is the blackjack minimum really $15?

We've never been to a real casino, but had fun at a recent Christmas party with a Vegas theme, and hired out card tables, roulette, craps, etc. Now we want to plan a gambling trip like Nola because there's more to do than just gamble. We've already been to Nola a few times and enjoyed ourselves, but never gambled.

What about Biloxi?

Other recommendations easy to get to from ATL?

Not really interested in Vegas.

40yo married couple asking.

Send me $1000 and I will mail a check for $500 the day after your vacation. You will have $500 more than you would had you taken on to the casino. I will have $500 more than I started with, It's a Win Win.

My first gambling trip was in Biloxi in 1998. They had $1 blackjack and craps tables at the time. Great way to learn without feeling pressured to bet more to get back the money you’ve handed over to the house.

At least sign up for a card and get a free buffet.

Be really stupid and over pay for a free steak!

But really, if you’re going to gamble, get the card, log it all, and hope for best, may as well get the room and food paid for.

Biloxi would be my choice. They have a little bit of everything in a short distance.

I really don't know what any of this means.

Talk to me like I've never been to a casino in my life.

What else is fun to do in Biloxi besides gambling?

Maybe an inshore fishing trip, some museums, feed marshmallows to alligators, take a haunted tour, etc?

Depends on which day you go to Harrahs. Weekends minimums might be 15-25 but on weekdays it might be $10. Lots more to do in new orleans than Biloxi

You eat. MS coast is the seafood capital of the gulf coast.

Eat here. Mary Mahoney's has good food and is one of the oldest eateries in the south.

Ship Island/Fort Massachusetts

About a dozen casino resorts within 10 miles

History

Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum

Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum

Ocean Springs bars/restaurants

The coast is pretty quiet this time of year but you may be able to catch a concert at the Beau Rivage, or take a dinner cruise.

I would go to Biloxi and stay at the Beau Rivage. We do this at least once or twice a year. But if you are flying from ATL, I would just go to Vegas. Major League versus Minor League.

Harrah’s can be pricey but Biloxi sucks outside of the casinos

From Atlanta there is the Harrah's Cherokee Casino in NC. I've never been but they used to advertise a lot in Atlanta and it's only about a 3hr drive vs. 5 1/2 to Biloxi.

Get a room at the Bay Town Inn in Bay Saint Louis, you can gamble NOLA, BSL, and Biloxi.

It is, but it's two very different kinds of destinations. The MS coast is rolling in BP money and is getting better and better. There's a large aquarium that's under construction in Gulfport, it's opening sometime next year. There's also a mega resort being planned.

So what I'm hearing is they all suck except for Vegas? If that's the case, I'll just go to the coolest town (by tourist definitions) and go to Harrah's NOLA.

Still open to suggestions, not planning this for a few more months. Still in the idea stage.

Suit yourself. I've stayed at Harrah's in N.O, it's very convenient.

IF you want more of a Casino experience beyond the gambling part go to Beau Rivage. Nicer pool area, shops in the casino, spa, gym, plenty restaurants. Harrah's will have all of that also but on a smaller scale. Don't get me wrong, Harrah's is a very nice casino. Very big and will have any game your looking for but Biloxi has more of a Vegas feel when you walk in but on a smaller scale.

But to me, you can only gamble so long. Not sure how long your length of stay will be but Biloxi is not even on the same radar as far as things to do when you walk out of the casino. New Orleans is the place to go if you want to spend your day outside doing things and then returning to the casino in the evening to do some gambling. Museums, restaurants, bars, shops...New Orleans is pretty much like Disney World for adults.
