No question for me. NYC. Chicago would be a close second.

The answer would probably depend on time of year, but overall it’s hard to argue against NY being #1

I think my top 5 would be...
1. NYC
2. Chicago
3. DC
4. New Orleans
5. Pittsburgh
Never been to San Diego or San Francisco. If we're talking major cities. I've been to a bunch of smaller cities I thoroughly enjoyed.

Biasedly New Orleans, unbiased Chicago and it's not close. I love San Francisco and NYC as well.
Boston is one of the few major cities I haven't visited domestically that I think could make that list.

San Francisco, but I think that is more because there is so much more I want to explore there. Covered a ton of ground in NYC and felt like I got to see a lot there and could focus on other cities. I prefer Boston over NYC because I enjoyed the revolutionary war history more there.
I need to go to Chicago.

I know I'll be in the minority, but I hate NYC. Hate it.
Salt Lake City would be my favorite big city. I have a long list of smaller southern towns that I love. Chattanooga, Blue Ridge, Asheville, Fayetteville.

Pittsburgh?? Have you been to more than 5 cities?

What would you say are the highlights of SLC.
I'm planning a trip to Jackson Hole/Tetons/Yellowstone next year and was contemplating flying in to Idaho Falls for the cheaper flight and car rental, but SLC is also an option that I've seen mentioned for that trip. If SLC is really worth carving out a night and a day or 2 for might consider it over Idaho Falls, it's just over double the drive to Jackson Hole.

Yeah I've been to pretty much every major US city except San Francisco, San Diego, Portland, Minneapolis, and Seattle.
It could be recency bias because I was just there in 2019, but I loved Pittsburgh. Great people, great scenery, decent food scene, beautiful baseball stadium right downtown.

SLC/Provo is really nice.
I wouldn't mind seeing Boston for the Freedom Trail.

NYC
SF is great to me too. Especially because it's a great base point for side trips to Napa, Sonoma, Monterrey, Carmel, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite...

Not sure I have a favorite, but I always enjoy visiting Austin, Denver, New York, and Minneapolis.

I'm biased, but New Orleans is still my favorite city (trending away from that though).
Outside of New Orleans, my favorite city that I've been to is Missoula. It's a small city, but it has a lot of what I want in a city. Walkable areas, restaurants, bars/breweries, close to great outdoor activities, a lively atmosphere (it's a college town). I could be biased in that choice too, as it was a recent trip and I went with people who I enjoy spending time with.
New York is great, but not my favorite large city (though it's the one that I've been to the most). I prefer Chicago and even DC over New York, if I'm ranking large cities.

Second Pittsburgh ... very underrated. Maybe not top 5, but certainly top 15. Same goes with Cincy.

We are planning on doing this exact thing this summer. We will spend two days in SLC before heading up to Jackson Hole. If the Salt Lake City Bees are playing, go to the park for a game. Best backdrop for a baseball game you'll ever see.
The hiking opportunities there are almost endless if that's your thing.
Traveling with the wife and kids? Mormon Square and City Creek Center.
Park City, Alta, and Snowbird are all close and offer tram rides up the mountain, biking, hiking, etc.
We love to eat there. Your Pie, Ruth's Diner, Penny Anne's Cafe, Log Haven, Provisions. Lots of breweries downtown as well. Cleanest city you'll ever go to and the public transportation is very good.
What would be the appeal of flying into Idaho other than the drive through Yellowstone to get to Jackson Hole?

I need to go back to Cincy sometime. Last time I was there was in the 80's when my uncle lived in Milford. All I remember is some chili restaurant(not Skyline), going to Reds games, and King's Island.
