Sounds like you want someplace that offers golf and drinks on the beach, with a variety of restaurants . SandDestin Resort is an option. There are plenty of restaurants on the bay side. Right outside of the complex is another area for shopping and great restaurants. I have stayed many times at the Hilton but they also have condo's. The Hilton is my fav because it is right on the beach. There are like 9 golf courses in the resort with a lot of amenities. Bonus is 30A is right down the road. Good luck

South Carolina coast is great. We took a guided kayak trip through the Kiawah marshes.

The beaches/water aren’t what one would classify as “pretty.” But interesting coast if you’re there for more than that.

When I think “beach vacation” Hawaii and Florida are way ahead of anyone.

Yeah, you don't go to Oregon beaches to play in the water.

We live in Destin. If I was to vacation around here, I would rent a house in Blue Mountain Beach. It is not as crowded as other beaches around. You still get the old 30a feel somewhat. So many places you will be stuck renting an umbrella and chairs 5 rows back. That would be miserable to me.

We go to Islamorada every spring. It is so beautiful and has great restaurants. We rent a house now, but use to love staying at the Cheeca Lodge.

If you want to golf, eat great seafood, see gorgeous scenery, hike, and enjoy the outdoors, you should check out Bandon, OR. The beaches are stunning. The ocean is not for swimming on the entire west coast. However, they have tidal pools, Rocks, sand, tranquility, and scenery. Just a very different scene.

Sea Island on St. Simons in Georgia checks a lot of your boxes. Really great golf, secluded/private, upscale. St. Simons itself is also very nice and there are plenty of resorts (King and Prince) that will be cheaper than Sea island.

In the South Carolina area I prefer Litchfield and Hilton Head.

Beaches in the hamptons are generally shite but the towns themselves are extremely nice. Montauk has a couple resorts with good beaches.

Been to many beaches and beach resorts, but I always liked Hawks Cay at milepost 61 in the Florida Keys. They have the beach, spa, marina with quick access to scuba diving, fishing, etc. You won't even need to pick up your car keys again until you are ready to leave. Everything you need is within walking distance.

We have a place in Truro on Cape Cod, so I always enjoy a day at Cahoon Hollow Beach and eating/drinking at Beachcomber.

Interesting. Did you fly into Portland and rent a car? Roughly how far is it from Portland? What all is there to do in Cannon Beach (hiking trails, restaurants, shops, breweries)? Are homes easily obtainable (Airbnb)?

Yes. Drive is about 80-100 min depending on traffic. Once you're outside Portland, it is one lane but super easy. You go through some smaller mountains, but if you're not stuck behind a truck hauling timber, it's a nice drive.

Tons of hiking at varying difficulties. This is my favorite thing, as you can adjust to however you feel that day. Surf rentals are an option if you don't mind a 15 min drive to Seaside.

There are a number of restaurants in town. Wife and I enjoyed Mo's for the view and Pizza a Fetta and Cannon Beach Hardware and Public House. Wife LOVES Crepe Neptune, which sells all kinds of crepes. I'm more Ricky Bobby when it comes to crepes.

Plenty of shopping. Cannon Beach has a mix of souvenir and artsy stuff. The downtown area is small and easily walkable for shopping options.

There are breweries, but I'm boring and don't drink enough to comment.

Yes. A lot of Cannon Beach is set up for tourism, so vacation rentals are plentiful. We've stayed in hotels bc it's just us 2, but the vacation rentals are everywhere.

Best vacation I've ever had. If you're seriously interested, I'm happy to provide more info.

Cannon beach is incredibly walkable. If you can get an Air Bnb in town, you will find a lot to do within walking distance. Restaurants, candy shops, antique shops, clothing stores, etc. All within a block or two of the beach. The beach changes as the tide goes in and out, and you can find tidal pools, which can be interesting - octopus, sea anemones, fish, crabs, etc. Ecola State park is at the edge of town and is a must. Incredible views of the coast line.

You will find a lot of breathtaking scenery driving down the coast. The Oregon coast is not very congested. Unlike the gulf coast, most of it is natural, and it is not wall-to-wall condos, towns, etc, so the scenery is great.

Cannon Beach has 3-4 breweries. Pelican has a location there, and they are probably the best food/beer combination in Cannon Beach. I recommend the smoked oyster bruschetta, if they have it.

Thirty minutes north is Astoria, which is pretty cool and has several breweries, as well - Ft George being the most notable and they are fantastic.

Forty Five minutes south is Tillamook, and you will find the main Pelican brewery and De Garde Brewing, which makes some of the best sours in the world. I also recommend going to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The ice cream there is fantastic. Try to go in off hours, or during the week. It gets very crowded - especially the ice cream line. The line moves very fast, so don't get discouraged, but you might have to wait 10 minutes to work through the line. The freshness of the ice cream makes it worth it.

Twenty five minutes south of Tillamook is Pacific City. The third Pelican brewpub is located there, and it is the best one. This is what the sunset will look like:

Yes. Ecola and Oswald West State parks have enough hiking to fill an entire trip. The view into Cannon Beach I posted earlier is from Ecola.

Also this. When I drive down the coast, you can literally stop every 5-10 minutes for amazing views and natural wonders. Caves, cliffs, beaches, all that.
