Need vacation location suggestions! We typically stay about week and we want to stay in the US. We usually plan our vacations about a year in advance so we can get the best rates, etc so we are looking at suggestions for next year. We have two daughters ages 16 and 6. We have been to the Florida panhandle, Orlando, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Gatlinburg, DC, San Antonio, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and will be going to Denver this year. We have done National Parks last year and this year so I’m not sure if we want to do National Parks again. We love adventure but also like to relax a bit. Throw all your suggestions at me!

Adventure and relaxation...how about Islamorada, Marathon and Key West?

San Diego would be nice anytime of year
Maybe somewhere in the Northeast like Maine and you could do Acadia National Park which is a totally different national park experience then out west
Chicago is a fun trip as well with lots of things to do with kids, some of the best museums

Agree with Chicago.
Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Savannah, GA/Hilton Head Island, SC
Sedona, AZ
New England is gorgeous in the summer. Love the CT & RI coast. Boston is a great visit, too.
If you get on passports now, a cruise would be ideal for your family. Perfect for your girls’ age difference.

For summer, and based on your recent trips, I recommend New England. You'd have a variety of things to choose from:
- Newport, RI
- Boston
- Cape Cod
- Acadia National Park
- Portland and the southern Maine coast
- Kancamagus Hwy (beautiful drive through White Mountains)
- Vermont (Stowe, Burlington, Lake Champlain)
While Acadia is a national park, it's not quite like the ones out West... for instance, you can just chill in Bar Harbor and eat great food with outdoor seating with views of island-dotted bays and then decide to go on a drive around the island or a hike or bike ride, etc

My suggestion anytime someone asks this question is always San Diego/La Jolla

We toured around northern Michigan, over to Minnesota and did the Lake Superior shore line drive from Duluth to the Canadian border. That was a great trip. There are 5 state parks on that drive.

Boston, Chicago, Key West, Charleston down to St. Augustine as one trip.
Also agree with the above on Acadia/Maine. Newport can be done with Boston.

Where did you stay in New England? I think that’s what we are going to do but not sure of places to stay.

Nonantum Kennebunkport convenient to drive anywhere around, we did a day trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor
Breakfast included with stay
you can take lobster boat tours, sailboat or fishing charter right from the dock in summer time
they have kids events and lawn games

I have done the New England trip many times over the years (we had friends that lived in Boston), we've done different stuff in many of the trips.
Boston to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket
Boston proper - historical stuff, Red Sox, etc (with a day trip to Newport)
Boston, meander to Burlington, stops in between like Stowe
Boston to Acadia, with the Maine coastal towns in between
Boston to the Canadian Maritimes
I've enjoyed all of them immensely, would do any of them tomorrow if someone told me to pack a bag. The Boston - Acadia NP trek is my favorite of the bunch.

I second the Williamsburg area. The Historic Triangle is very interesting and a beautiful place to visit.
