Carnival July Cruises out of Galveston to require passengers to be fully vaxed

Basically if you want to sail on one of the two Carnival ships out of Galveston in July, you need to be fully vaccinated 14 days before departure.
No exceptions, not even for children. Since children under 12 can't get a vaccine right now, that means they are not allowed to cruise on these voyages.
Hopefully these restrictions won't last long, but Carnival is saying the CDC basically forced their hand here.

Cruise ships are basically petri dishes. This is one of the few places where we shouldn't be treating the pandemic as finished.

the types of people that go on Carnival cruises are the types of people that thinks Bill Gates is putting computer chips in the vaccines. time to sell my Carnival Stock.

Maybe this will weed out the dregs of society that you usually find on a Carnival cruise

Just a few minutes ago, Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent a tweet about this very topic:

I’m signing a law today that prohibits any business operating in Texas from requiring vaccine passports or any vaccine information.
Texas is open 100% without any restrictions or limitations or requirements.
I wonder if Carnival will move the ships to New Orleans.

So no more international flights back into Texas since they need Covid tests?

Forget covid, I never have any desire to step foot on a boat again especially with all the norawalk viruses that are spread around.

You can treat it however you like. The gov't shouldn't be making these decisions.

Interesting. You would think Carnival would be aware of this.
My guess is that if Carnival is forced to choose between the CDC and Texas, it will listen to the CDC.

It is going to be interesting how this plays out in Texas and Florida in general. I guess the CDC will get a court injunction of some kind or the cruise ships will move on following the state rulings and use that as their protection against lawsuits from the idiots who cruise and catch Covid.

Royal is going to keep close tabs on you and the other unvaccinated passengers, because the Florida law doesn't stop Royal from asking about your vaccination status, and it doesn't stop foreign contractors who operate excursions from refusing you on the basis that you haven't been vaccinated.
This isn't the thread for me to argue that the vaccines work and are safe, but I will say that I think you're making a mistake in thinking that your cruise will be just as enjoyable whether you're vaccinated or not.

Wait no kids? I might actually go on a cruise.
