Royal is going to keep close tabs on you and the other unvaccinated passengers, because the Florida law doesn't stop Royal from asking about your vaccination status, and it doesn't stop foreign contractors who operate excursions from refusing you on the basis that you haven't been vaccinated.

Well I guess we will find out before we sail....
It’s not something I’m concerned with. If I was worried about covid I wouldn’t be going on a cruise
I understand that people may be but they also have the choice to not go.
But yeah you are right....if that’s how they want to handle the protocols then no we won’t be going in the end
My flights and hotel to Miami along with cruise that was booked in January 2020 are all refundable

So no more international flights back into Texas since they need Covid tests?

That is federal. Texas doesn't get to dictate US immigration and customs enforcement.

You can treat it however you like. The gov't shouldn't be making these decisions.

And they shouldn't be telling businesses they can't make a decision that they think will protect their customers and employees - i.e. saying if you haven't been vaccinated, you can't come on our ship. So much for small government.

Celebrity just put out their guidelines for Florida cruises. I'm guessing since RCI owns them, it will be similar for Royal boats...

LINK

quote:

Celebrity Cruises told travel agents on a webinar on Tuesday that they will not require passengers to show proof of vaccination, but someone that prefers or opts out of showing proof will be held to a different set of protocols onboard, as well as additional costs to incur to confirm they are healthy.

quote:

If you choose not to show proof of vaccination, then there are additional steps required to fulfill in order to sail.

According to Celebrity, guests who do not show proof of vaccination will be considered unvaccinated and will require a SARS-COV-2 test at the terminal at their own expense.

Guests that do not meet the requirements will be denied boarding. Unvaccinated passengers may be also be restricted in certain ports, depending on the local laws.

quote:

Masks will not be required for vaccinated guests and children 15 and younger.

Unvaccinated adult guests are required to wear a mask at all times, except while eating or drinking or in their stateroom.

Once onboard, I have no idea how they would know what guests are vax and what are not and thus need to wear a mask. That seems completely unenforceable.

Would imagine they would just use color coded wristbands to indicate vaccination status. Don’t have a wristband on or not the right color....gotta wear a mask.

Good for the cruise lines for doing this. Those boats are already massive floating Petri dishes.

I would be willing to bet come July they will not have any different status for vaccinated or unvaccinated
The only difference will be having to have a rapid test done

No it isn’t. A cruise line isn’t a healthcare facility or a place that provides healthcare. Where HIPAA laws actually apply.

Quit mentioning HIPAA when you clearly are clueless about it

You are so clueless you can’t even spell it right.

I hate cruises but if they are requiring people to be vaccinated or making it more miserable for those that refuse to....I may reconsider in the future.

Like someone else said...weeds out the really ignorant, dumb, and trashy folks that are making up the bulk of the population refusing the vaccine right now

Do you lock your door at night? Why? Your risk of getting burglarized is low. Do you wear your seatbelt? Why?

Deciding not to get the vaccine is dumb because the risk is real, especially on a cruise, for crying out loud. But the real risk to younger people isn't dying -- it's "Long COVID," where your symptoms never go away. I think about NBA star Jayson Tatum, more than 2 months after his recovery, still needing to use an inhaler every game, because he still can't breathe normally. That's what you should be scared of.

I got it and literally had zero symptoms at all when I had it nor do I have any of these "long COVID' symptoms you are fear mongering with using an extremely embellished anectodal example

So far it has not been proven you can get COVID twice and if I do I will take my chances with the 99.9999999999% survival rate for healthy men my age. I literally have zero upside of getting the vaccine.

Same exact reasoning can be said on the low risk for problems from covid.
You got your shot right? So why are you so concerned if other get theirs?

My dad got it twice. Had it in Feb of 2020. Didn't realize what it was at the time, then tested positive for antibodies in May when those tests started to become available. Then got it again early December and tested positive. Thankfully neither were serious, but he and my mom both got the vaccine as soon as it was available.

What is the downside of the vaccine? The serious side effects are significantly lower then those that get significantly sick from actually getting covid. You may be fine with taking the chances of getting it, but what about passing it to others more vulnerable?

I can tell you a cruise line will most certainly be concerned about those unvaccinated on their ships. Last thing they want to deal with is a COVID outbreak on their ship.

You have to consider the international aspect as well. Not like a cruise just stays in the U.S. Just because cases are down in the U.S. doesn’t mean it’s the same elsewhere.

Those rules are for the July cruises.

Eventually I agree there will be no different status, but I think that's a few months away. Maybe October/November. They are going to run this system for a few months to make sure nothing breaks out.
