Looking for suggestions on where to go with 3 couples in Monterey or Carmel. We prefer scenery over cuisine but in a perfect world would like a nice Mexican restaurant or italian since we are having seafood and steaks the night before.
TIA

Rosie's in Monterey has great Italian food, if it is still there. A block or two from the wharf. The wharf has some nice restaurants as well.

We are eating at the bench the night before. Is stillwater better than the bench? We are staying at the lodge for 2 nights.

Never ate at the bench. I just remember the view was spectacular at Stillwater. We had a table near the window at dusk. I don’t remember the food actually. But when you said scenery was more important than food, I remembered my last trip there.

No scenery but went to La Bicyclette and Casanova in Carmel last spring and they were both fantastic.

If you are up to a 20 mile drive Nepenthe in Big Sur is a fantastic option for what you describe.

Ate at Casanova in Carmel years ago and it was good Italian, it was night and rainy so I'm not sure if there is any view or anything.

Thanks. I’ll have a look. 20 miles works for us.

Be warned, a 20 mile drive on that road is probably at least an hour. And if the driver has a few drinks at dinner, I wouldn’t trust them on that drive back.

if you don't mind driving south, Nepenthe. Overlooks the Pacific up on a cliff. Absolutely gorgeous.

I second this! Visited there many years ago while driving down Highway 1. Stunning views! Had a funky/hippy vibe at the time. Still recall my dinner there with great pleasure.
