Pros\cons of both.

4 couples\No kids

Open to a large cabin or a nice resort on location with individual condos/rooms

Skiing/snowboarding doesn’t really matter.

Usually make a New York trip each December with this group. Active couples. Walking around sightseeing, dining and enjoying drinks.

I enjoy the people in Breck more than Vail, but the Skiing, the Dining, the Shopping and the nightlife are all better in Vail. This coming from someone who has been to Breck over 20+ times.

Breckenridge might be a little more affordable if that's part of the deal as well
Plus whichever one you don't stay at, you could visit for the day as both are fairly close to each other

I go to Breck often. I’ve been to Vail. I much prefer Breck, though both are fun trips.

Breck is a real town. The people are nice. Food and drink options are plentiful. Breck is more relaxed and comfortable for us.

If you don't know the difference in the two then Breckenfridge is your answer. Vail is better in every way but it is also probably cost about twice as much.

Vail is sooo expensive, but the skiing is sooooo good.
Breck is an awesome, real town. Very busy, almost spring break busy. And good skiing.
Both slopes can be really crowded, but it disperses slightly better in Vail.
Hope that helps.

Vail feels manufactured while Breck is a real mountain town. You can go to Frisco as well from Breck. Cute little mountain town too. Was just in Breck, and they blocked off Main Street and made it all outdoor dining and bars. Not a clue what the plan is once it snows.

I like Breck a lot more, mainly for the history and more genuine feel of the town. Vail is Ski Disneyland.

Without a doubt, but that wasn't an option given.

As for Breck being a real town, the T-shirt shops ruined that a long time ago.

Vail seems more of a truck stop skiing area, it’s right off the interstate and has its own village...Sure skiing is great.... breck is a real town and main st is like an old timer downtown strip below the mountain with restaurant, shops, bars.

I’ve never skied Vail though just been by there a few times, mountain biking in summer and white water rafting, correct me if I’m wrong, I can’t compare the skiing mountains though

Vail might be the best overall ski mountain in the country when it comes to acreage, variety of terrain, lifts, accessibility, etc.

We haven’t been to many of the mountain towns in Colorado and we keep saying we want to try somewhere other than Vail. We booked it again this year for the week of MLK weekend. Lots of our friends love Steamboat.
