Looking to do a weekend trip 9/28-10/1. We want to go to a pool party and have a good place to watch college football games all day on Saturday. I've looked around online but prices are higher than I expected considering how much we will probably spend on gambling, eating, and drinking. I was under the impression that hotels in LV were supposed to be fairly cheap.

You can find those, but sporting weekends and a desire to stay on the strip will find you paying a boatload.

Most people who say this are the ones who get comps and offers / discounts. Regular rates at most of the nicer places near central strip aren't going to be cheap.

Especially on prime dates and weekends.
It can get costly.
The ones off the strip have better deals but than it's the inconvenience of not being able to walk to the strip.

Prices are a lot higher on weekends than during the week. For cheaper rooms, I would check at places such as the Paris.

You want to book downtown and spend the day at Circa’s Stadium Swim. You can book just Stadium Swim and stay elsewhere.

Plaza Hotel next door just did a renovation. Golden Nugget should be around $250/night.

I almost always book directly with the resort unless my Company’s discount site has a better deal.

Stadium Swim at Circa

I’ll be there that same weekend. Booked The Paris at reasonable rates. It’s close to everything and centrally located.

Hittin up a couple Michelin star restaurants that weekend.

Check out Paris
Location cannot be beat
Large pool underneath the Eiffel Tower
Large sports book
Also a sweet beer bar (beer park) overlooking the strip which is open air, tvs, fun atmosphere
Usually reasonably priced

What are you looking to spend. If you want to stay on the strip and spend the least amount besides circus circus try excaliber. Ive stayed there a few times and its not bad. You have new york new york and luxor connected and easy to walk to. Cabs and ride sharing are typically very efficient to get around. And you already know at least once you will have a drunken late night and want to eat popeyes chicken.

For a reason. If you plan to walk then it isnt the best area, mid strip is. If you're down for uber/taxi or using the monorail then it isnt a bad option

Just by signing up for one of the rewards clubs (MLife, Ceasars, Grazie, Club One, etc.) should net you 10-20% discount at checkout. If you have a chance to play some with your card, the next time you go, you should get offers and discounts.

You can’t find anywhere cheaper that’s anywhere close to as good as Vegas on your run of the mill Sunday to Thursday

If you've never visited be prepared to see a lot of homeless people and very sketchy individuals everywhere you go. I went expecting to see what I saw on the tv ads, but was very disappointed and disgusted. The streets were filthy and inside some of the casinos were young, homeless people sleeping in the corners charging their cell phone while they slept. I have no desire to ever go back!

Been reading a lot about it and traffic is absolutely horrid as they’re doing all that roadwork and grandstands for the F1 race in November

Would def try Caesar’s As it’s a good location

I always found great deals on hotels, restaurants, nightclubs etc at Vegas.com

But that was 10 or so years ago when I used to frequent there a lot but I am not sure of that site is still the same

Where are you flying in from? I have had good luck doing flight and room together through Southwest.
