Seems too risky to travel outside of the country at this moment

Nope, still headed to the UK next Friday. And as of now still keeping an eye on the Italy situation as I’ll head there next. I can get a refund for my hotel up until the 5th and they’re already offering free flight swap to another destination. So unless mandatory quarantines and flight cancellations begin happening all throughout Europe and getting back into the US I’m goin baw.

I’ll work from home for two weeks when I get back as a self-quarantine measure.

This is key. And Airlines and Hotels are going to increasingly become more and more flexible the next month or so or else they will get hammered.

Honestly, for people with flexibility this late spring and early summer may become a SUPER cheap time to travel if everyone has to offer deals to fill vacancies.

ETA: When I say hammered, I meant their sales and revenue will be crushed with people too hesitant to travel with firm cancellation policies.

It depends. Is it a place I wouldn't mind getting stuck in and do I have the funds to extend my stay a few weeks if I got stuck there. You can probably find some pretty good deals right now, especially to places with cruise destinations. Might be a great time to visit Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.

I know a guy that flies for Korean Air out of Seattle (that's where he lives anyway) that's almost retired, but he said their flights are very empty. Could be a great time to visit Asia!

we just cancelled a trip to Italy. were supposed to leave next week, but don't want to chance spending all our time in quarantine there and possibly in the US on return as well. don't fear the virus as much as being locked up.

My parents just did the same. They were going to all the popular tourist places and figured why go if everything might be shut down? They rescheduled for November.

If you are older, I don't blame you at all. To be argumentative and play Devil's Advocate, the "big stuff" in Italy is some of the most overated parts of my vacations there. I love Italy for the day to day everyday life aspect of just being in country. The scenery almost everywhere is like a movie, the food just fantastic, and so much more.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes if you are old and just want to see the big tourist sites its a bad time to travel, but if you are flexible and just want to go for some culture, food, scenery, etc. then now can be a great time
to go.

That's my parents. They are older and not very adventurous.

We have a trip scheduled to Spain in May. I have another 45ish days to make a decision without any financial impact greater than what I'd incur by canceling today. It's wait and see for us right now.

Going to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Cologne started March 14th. I'm not canceling unless United and the trains allow me to cancel freely.

Nope. Heading to Mexico City next month and Mumbai later this year.

We’re all going to die at some point. I’m not going to not live life because of a little virus. And if that’s what takes me, so be it.

Same. Spain and France.
Only concern would be the flight. But we’re going unless we have a worldwide problem which I am not at all worried over.

We're currently planning to go to Jordan this summer and I'm waiting for ticket prices to drop before booking.

I just saw a $600 round trip to Casablanca, so I'm hopeful.

Have plans to go to Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto) mid-May. Haven’t pulled the trigger on travel yet though. Waiting it out a little longer to make a decision.

No because I work overseas. But Covid is 1-2% kill rate. I’m not gonna get worked up over that.

I am flying out on Wed night to Dublin for a few days.

The purpose was for the Italy-Ireland rugby game

And then off to Belgium for a few days and then Paris for the Ireland game on the 14th.

My feeling is that it is better to travel now, as I am getting the feeling that they are going to shut everything down soon. And if I get stuck in Europe, so be it...

Sorry to hear the match has been postponed.

Going to be in Germany and Italy from March 15-31st. We have travel insurance. Most worrisome thing is if travel is restricted and cities are quarantined; otherwise we are going. We’re just going to bring a boat load of hand sanitizer and some masks.
