Been to Big Cedar Lodge and Mountain Harbor at Lake Ouchita. Both good. Looking for one more like Big Cedar w/o the golf but more anniversary and pampering than Mountain Harbor. Fishing guides, good restaurants, good accommodations, light hiking, spa, scenery, relaxing.

Alabama or Georgia? Probably too far?

What are mountains to you? 500 foot mounds? It sounds like the hills of Northern Alabama may be about as far as you can go. Hills are in Tennessee, mountains are the Rockies.

Was thinking Arkansas. Ozarks and similar. Been out west enough.

Out of your driving range, but the SW mountains will make you and your life feel small, they humbled me.

Yea. Looking like the Arlington might be in our future. No other real options .

the Arlington
I have been to Hot Springs (& Ark) many times. Last time and everytime the Arlington was old and dated. Check the reviews.

30 minutes from Hot Spring's are nice rentals in Hot Springs village on a Lake. There not much to do but relax and hike, canoe etc..
