Anyone know about the Blues on Peak 7? Whats the 411? TIA
Peak 7 has great cruisers (blues). I've found that the runs off of Peak 7 can get particularly icy if there's not enough snow or long periods between snowfalls.
Lots of traffic on that mountain and the wind seems to hit it moreso than the other peaks.

Good to know. Absolutely hate icy runs.

never been to Whistler, headed there in late Feb with a group of 3 for our annual guys trip. Any recommendations on places to stay (recommend the Whistler side or Blackcomb side)
Bobsledding, Scandi spa, Vodka room, etc.
I personally like Blackcomb better. I prefer the layout, lifts, runs, and crowd management. I will typically do 3 days Blackcomb and only one day whistler.
I believe we stayed at the Crystal right there on village stroll last time, but there are lots of VRBO's around there if you wanted to go cheaper.
However, my trips are... first chair to last chair. Then, go home, hot tub, eat dinner, go to sleep, and repeat. I'm not must for night life. I can do that the rest of the year.

I don't know man...something about Apres just hit different.
We MIGHT go out one night but I won't shay from getting off the mountain a little early for Apres. I'm a sucka, I know.

I’ve been to Whistler a few times now. Have stayed in Whistler Village and also over at Creekside, but never Blackcomb. If it’s your first trip I’d recommend finding a place close to the village. It’s a much more convenient location to walk around or go out for dinner/drinks. The trade off is lines will be longer. Creekside has less lines, plus you can take creekside gondola then the big red express up to access the P2P gondola in case you wanted to head over to Blackcomb. But, Creekside doesn’t have the variety of options around it like the village does, especially for apres. Whistler Village is going to be more expensive so it really depends on what experience you guys are looking for. It’s a top 5 ski resort for me.

And the Colorado season opens in an hour, with Abasin spinning a chair at 11.

I have a goal to ride in every month of the year. I still need July-October. Might have to venture out there one year and ride the white ribbon.

You should read Gnar Country: growing old and staying rad by Steven Kotler. He had some goal to get in like 300 days of riding in a year. Mt. Hood is your friend.

Broke my collarbone with a 2cm displacement and tore my ACL in March while on a late afternoon run at Breck. Just had ACL surgery a month ago after rehabbing the shoulder first. Sadly will have to skip out on skiing this season

Lindsey Vonn don't need ACLs. Get back out there

Have you considered a handicap chair?
Never too old to learn a new skill!

It's starting to get really interesting on the modeling out 10+ days. It gets amplified as hell. Might be some of the SSW fall out working it's way down.
None of em agree on the timing, but eventually they bring a big arse trough into the west by mid-month. Cautiously optimistic...

Trying to figure out a mid december trip (12/12-12/19 or 12/20) and looking for some thoughts from the board. I know it's going to be early season conditions but just looking for a fun spot to spend a week not at work. Leaning towards either flying to Reno and doing Palisades/Alpine Meadows/Mammoth or to LAX and doing Mammoth/Big Bear.
I did the drive from Reno to Mammoth a few easters ago and it was fine, but the way back I hit a bad snowstorm and it had the pucker feeling driving on 395 at the CA/NV border. 3 hrs to Mammoth from Reno, 5 hours from LAX but nonstop flights to LAX so I'd save some time there. Also wondering, if the road gets closed from Reno to Mammoth, I'd have to detour around through Nevada and it'd end up being about 5 hours anyway.
Is it worth trying to hit up Big Bear? I've never been there
Plus I've never been to San Diego so if its worth taking a detour there while I'm out there, I could tack that on. Thanks all!

I've never been, but talking to some locals at Mammoth, it would not be worth a trip. Gets very little natural snow and relies mostly on snowmaking. not sure how much of the mountain would even be open at that time.
I'd think Mammoth would probably be pretty good if this wet weather holds up. Having made the drive from LA to Mam, I don't know if I'd want to do it in a big storm. The road is pretty easy until you start crossing over the mountains, but it is a LONG drive.

Appreciate the advice especially on Big Bear
. I ended up booking flights to Reno so will make that homebase for the week and aim for 3 or 4 days at Mammoth and 3 or 4 days at Alpine Meadows/Palisades.

Weather not playing nice. Copper Mnt opening getting pushed back. Too warm to make enough snow.

Mammoth is looking solid, planning on hitting Tahoe in Late January. Thinking about skiing CO before Christmas, going to fly into Eagle and ski Vail, Copper and Aspen.

Tahoe gonna feast this year.

Copper opens Sunday. I suspect Breck is on the same timetable
